It is got nothing to do with the war wallahi. Every darood, at least every marehan, prays that a hawiye bantu never shows up at his door asking for his daughters hand in marriage. A distant relative of mine gave this beautiful daughter he had to one of my cousins because his hawiye best friends son came to his house looking to marry the daughter. Instead of becoming a shame to his community for allowing his daughter to marry a low caste hawiye bantu, he married the girl off to my cousin who already had another wife. You see it is got nothing to do with the war. We genuinely don't want to have little nappy haired big lipped abgaal nephews or nieces or even grandkids father by a bantu like you with a chip the size of mount kilamanjaro on their shoulder. We don't marry their women either because we don't want to pollute our gene pool.Twisted_Logic wrote: I pity the Hawiye man who proposes to a Darod girl. Your people have this thinking that "Hawiye killed us in Somalia and now wants to marry our daughters," this just shows cuqdad and nothing less.

It did happen man. It was something that was talked about for a while.Xamud. wrote:Twisted_Logic wrote:grandpakhalif,
I know of a very specific incident when an Isaaq family canceled a wedding in the middle of the aroos when they discovered that the bride was the daughter of Marehan general. Never has a Darod family refused marriage proposal to a Hawiye man in Somali history. This phenomena started after 91 and it is very understandable and I don't blame them. If I was chased out of my country and massacred, I wouldn't want the same people marrying my daughters
If this really happend although I don`t think it did cuz why would they go through the trouble of arranging a wedding and everything?
This is understandable they probably cancelled the wedding because of the fathers affiliation with the former government, him being a Marexaan General probably spooked something in their mind
I mean, people have a bad feelings about what happened in the recent Somali history and it is understandable.
I have a very good Reer Jalaf friend who was a second nephew of Aideed. He was a graduate student and fell in love with a OG girl. He went through the entire normal formalities and was invited for dinner and such. They asked him his qabil and all, they were ok with him till when he mentioned that he was a nephew of Aideed. The kid was American raised and had not tangible understanding of the Somali social dynamics. Wallahi, without letting him finish his dinner, they told him to get out.

Can you blame the family? Of course, not. Some people might have lost family members in the war and their feelings are understandable.
In terms of inter-marriage, the level of inter-marriages between Hawiye and Darod is just so deep, it crumbles this pathetic idea that a Hawiye can't marry a Darod. I have never seen a Darod person that didn't have Hawiye relatives and vice versa. So, I don't know how this argument can be made.

I think they're Oromo, either way they used to call them Habash but here on Snet I think A.wahab said they were Hawiye.
TL the whole "Boon" thing is kept inside, only legit children can discuss this sensitive issue.

No disrespect though i really put all Somalis in the same baskets prior to 91, 80s,70s ect when Warsangelis migrated to Xamar it was frowned upon to marry a Hawiye nomad and even the Hawiye "elites" were looked down on.
Abgaals were considered stick carriers who brought their goods from the bush on a dameer. I dont know if that was the sterotype I have yet to see a Warsangeli +Hawiye marriage yet.

I was following your little narrative, till you mentioned that you are BOON.

Your clan is the most Bantu looking out of all the Somali clans, even more Bantu looking than the jareer people.
