Yeah I think that's what she meant, but I could be (and probably am) wrongWestLdnShawty wrote:I know she aint talkin about herself.. Her point wasn't that it is permissible, but that it can be done. If you knew she wasn't talking about herself, the "he/you" wasn't necessary.WestLdnShawty wrote:I know she aint talkin about herself.. It was supposed to be 'youse' but I wasn't able to edit it out.
And that was referring to her relatives. *assuming it was her cousin who gave him a visit*. Surely they would have intervened if they knew it wasn't permissible... And if they did know better how can they think a human like themselves can bend Allah's rules.. This right here is what I was asking..
Some people blindly follow/trust imams due to assumptions they know/should know better.

I think its you and I that's talking about the same thing..

What? I think you're looking into what she said far too much.
Her point was that there are folks who want to go around the rules, and there are those who facilitate them. That's all.
My comment to her was regarding imaams in Toronto. I highly doubt there's any imaam in this city that would do that. Though, she's likely assuming anyone with the legal authority to wed is also an imaam.

Amongst Salafis it is very common, it is nonexistant among mainstream Muslim women, who have much more respect for themselves and their men have much more respect for them.WestLdnShawty wrote:I've recently come across several sisters sometimes as young as 20 taking an active role in looking for a second wife for their husbands..![]()
Is this common?

Don't fall for the bait guys!
Years ago I was told this sheeko and I'm still in shock. There was this older couple who didn't have any children. After a first few years, the husband's friends kept telling him to get married to someone else, but homeboy was content with his situation. One day, the wife brought up the idea of marrying another woman to her husband. Odeyga wu diiday boqol jeer, until the day his wife told him she has the perfect suitor for him. Wa tu ka yar oo diinteeda ku xidhan, oon weligeed guursan
Islaanta begged him to get married to this lady, and even went as far as to say she'd plan the aroos and make arrangements
Finally when he succumbed and said yes, shaah dabki saarna ayey wejiga ka shubtay. Not only did he stay with her but till this day, he gets so cheesed when anyone brings up him getting married again. Wu ka baqda miskiinka.

As for the lady who got married a week after her divorce, who to say the imaam she went to the second time around knew wagwun
If she lied and said she's been divorced for a year, how would he know?

This guy should have done the age old classic of having a secret wife behind her back and calling it a "second job"

He didn't want to get re-married though. Ayada ku khasabtay, marki dambana shaah kulul ku rusheesay. I'm sure if he wanted another wife or children, he would've gotten a second wife in a jiffy.
