My screen name is actually LAMAGOODLE (apparently that name was already taken so I had to opt for Lamgoodle). It is street name that reer Banaadir use to describe people from the countryside (reer baadiyo which could be very deragatory). On face value it means two garnmets.

What does yours mean?

BlueNwhite. True. Ignorance is the enemy of common sense.

Actually, it means labo go' or labo go'le so you are not that far away. Nannes (a character on these boards) thought my name mean; not circumsized (la i ma gudin)

The undercurrents of "Lamagoodle" in the Reer banaadiri context is that urbanites wore trousers while rural people wore two sheets.

I think s(he) is around using a different nick. Somali is actually an easy and rational language. As a backward/primitive/underdevelopment/undeveloped society we are prone to catching inferiority complex (see, e.g. some of the replies to this thread). Our instititutions ( language, culture, names, tradiions ) are under threat from nutheads whose suffer from inferiority complex.

I cant blame the most folks here who expressed their opinions on the matter.
Most young generations inherited nothing but disappointment and negativity from the Somalia/Somalis.

True, but I still fail to understand why some of them don't engage in a critical discussion on the reasons behind our moral, political and social decay. It is natural that when institutions fail people turn to e.g. religion as a resort. However, it is an intellectual fallacy to equate arabic culture with islam as many on this thread did. Islam is a religion that is embraced by billions but many are slaves to the sick notion that islam=arab. Notice the thesis of this thread; we should encourage a somali name system since my belief is that names are at the core of ones identity.

I know.
Like those arent the essence of snet discussions.

Lama,i really dont think shushing their concerns/opinions is a good method of discussioning our decay.

The kids u r calling nutsheads are just going by what they know and believe.Maybe we need to gather their faith in Somalinimo first in a more engaging way.

Blue,i rest ma case.
