Re: The Post a Recipe Thread
For the bakers..
A white cake.. It's real simple..
I usually make a 2 or 4 layer cakes..
ingredients:
1 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup of butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.. You can find halaal vanilla extract in many places..
1 3/4 teaspoons of baking powder
Half a cup of caano..
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9x9 inch pan..
In a bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat the eggs, 1 at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well.. Finally stir in the milk untill the batter is smooth hayee..
Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Bake for about 30 ot 40 mins in the preheated oven.. The cake is done when it springs back to the touch or just use a wooden tooth pick and it it comes out clean its ready..
Frosting ingredients:
1 cup of heavy whipping cream
2 packs of cream cheese.. But make sure you soften it to room temp hayee..
3/4 cups of sugar..
Beat the cream cheese and sugar together until smooth.. shouldn't take long.. a min or two at most.. Add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream and beat on high speed until fluffy.
If you decide to turn it into a layer cake.. you'll need fresh strawberries for the filling.. Which you bend and put inside the cake..
Make sure you let the cake cool. Like I said earlier I usually turn my cake into a 2 or a 4 layer cake. If I do the latter I bake 2 separate cakes at the same time (just double the ingredients) and I cut both cakes into two.. If you prefer the former.. Just bake one cake and cut the cake into two...
Anyway.. Spread the first layer with about 1/4 of the strawberry puree.. Spread only just a thin layer of the frosting on the second half and place it over the first layer so the strawberries and cream are hugging..
.. Repeat with the next layers..
Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frost.. And decorate as you please.. The decoration is my favorite part.. Get creative with it..

Re: The Post a Recipe Thread
^ Sounds delish
NY style cheesecake
Crust:
2 c of graham crackers
1/2 c of butter, melted
2 TB of sugar
Cake:
3 packs of cream cheese (room temperature. Has to be soft!)
3/4 c of sugar
1.5 ts vanilla extract (or in my case, 1 soaked vanilla bean)
1 tub of sour cream
4 eggs
Directions:
1. Preheat oven at 325F
2. Combine graham crackers, butter and sugar. Mixture should be very crumbly. Press into the bottom of a 9x13 baking pan. Set aside.
3. With an electric mixer on medium speed, beat together cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Add 1 egg at a time while continuing to beat at low speed. Afterwards, fold in 1 cup of sour cream.
4. Pour contents over graham crust and bake for 40-45 minutes. The cake is ready when the edges are a bit golden and the center hasn't fully set. The cake will continue to bake outside the over, so don't cover cook.
5. In a bowl, mix 1/4 c of sugar, some vanilla and remaining sour cream. Spread on top of cheesecake, covering any cracks. Place back in oven for 5 minutes.
6. Remove cake from oven and allow to cool on the counter for an hour. Afterwards, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate over night (preferably) or at least 3-4 hours.
Can be served w/ fruits and whipped cream or enjoyed alone!

Yumm yumm tucking into it now. Waa la wada yaabay.
About 4 medium potatoes, boiled and peeled
1 teaspoon each of cumin, coriander, amchur (you can get this in Asian stores),
half a teaspoon of chilli powder.
About 3 green chillies chopped.
1 medium onion finely chopped
1 teaspoon of crushed garlic and ginger
1 tablespoon of cornflour
Mash it all together
Form into patties and dip in plain flour (dust of the excess)
SHALLOW fry in a NON STICK pan in medium heat till brown. Use about three tablespoon oil for every three patties.
Drain and press down gently with kitchen paper so it absorbs excess oil (this is essential).
Eat it as it is with ketchup or put it in a sandwich, with salad leaves and any sauce you like. I make my own Arabic garlic sauce, you know the one you get inside Shawarmas and it was yummmy.
