chilinbadboy, rouge units ? stop the lies.

Its distasteful to insult a women. kambuli along with rightwing, based etc are one of the few old enough on this forum who lived through the kacaan. One should 'listen' to their views.
You talk and talk with your nonsense but provide no prove. Bring forth your prove or forever hold your peace when grown folks are talking.

You said a genocide on the scale of what befell the Isaaq happened to the Gudabursi. We are in turn waiting to be educated patiently so bring forth your evidence

JaalleMarx wrote:This is always an infected debate. Every somali has an opinion about the causes of the revolution as well as how it progressed. The majority of somalis loved the kacaan until the late 1970s when it lost its marxist compass. The reasons could be debated.

I think it is important to distinguish between the kacaan and its leaders.

Indeed, some could argue that the seeds of our problems today were sawn in 1969 when a democratically elected government was overthrown albeit in a bloodless coup. Others could also argue that the kacaan took place because of widespread tribalism and corruption. And that the kacaan (at least for a decade or so) formed our identity as a strong nation. It built institutions, it gave as a written language and that we became feared as a great nation. As a matter of fact, many of the artefacts of the "kacaan" (everything from governance to institutions) are potent. Many people in Somalia view the kacaan times with nostalgia.

Whatever views we hold, the 21st of october, is a day to remember for good or worse.

BTW: this was how the kacaan was announced on the morning of the 21st October, 1969.

Exactly!

Sentiment toward the Kacaan is very subjective. Some would associate it with prosperity, others misery. It's difficult to relate to.

chilinbadboy wrote: The kacaan did much worse, the SNM condemned the actions of a few who took it upon themselves to get revenge. Why don't you acknowledge the kacaan who used bombers and foreign mercenaries to kill innocent civilians?
The Kacaan sole intention wasn't to massacre people and neither did the Kacaan use civilians as human-shields in which both SNM did.

The Kacaan was a government had everything right to fight against a rebel group same way modern countries today are fighting against rebel groups in their country let it be UKRAINE, SYRIA, BRITAIN (against Irish rebels) and other countries.

So why did it punish the Majoerteen civilians or the Isaaq's in Mogdisho. Why would it bomb people from the sky and claim they were being used as human shields, what did they do carry them like umbrellas?

Your parents should give the stolen moonies back. Xaram ku nool...

It punishment against Majerteen civilians were carried out by a Isaaq general without the consent of Siyaad Barre for the sole intention to retaliate against the treason of Abdullahi Yusuf whom massacred innocent people in Balanbale and Galdogob whilst bringing Ethiopian troops into their country. And that Isaaq general was punished for his action by the government.

It's punishment against Isaaq in Mogadishu were men that were caught aiding the rebel groups they were killed for treason.

Throwing bombs from the sky was a method to fight against SNM, same way USA is busy bombing ISIS from the sky today. Whatever civilians die it is collateral damage thats all, the intention is not to kill civilians but to defeat rebels. Use your brains you emotional faggot.

It doesn't. But it is history. History is something to study, dwell upon on or celebrate from. Same way 1960 1st July was history. :|

History is written by those in power as long as you understand that there is really nothing to talk about.
Arguing about a dead Somali leader and dead rebel groups won't change the reality of what Somalia is today; no matter how pretty a picture one paints of the past the fact that the present is so ugly leaves a lot questions about how pretty the past was.....

Funny dig at your last point, but the fact was the past was indeed pretty whether you want to accept it or not.

History is written by everyone, everyone have their own interpretation of the past hence why the back and forth arguments.

p.s. Who said the rebel groups are dead yet? Yes the leader is dead but rebels haven't died just yet, maybe some aspects of them like AY or Caydiid.

Dude you can believe what you want to believe, it's you God given right.
just because you say it's a fact does not mean it's a fact, don't be a fact monger.
Today's Somalia has many new players, who have different ideals as you can see were both typing from foreign countries so not much has changed.

I'm actually typing from my own country, Xamar. And I'm here to do the better of my country whilst using Siyaad Barre as my inspiration. Shame that you have nobody to inspire you, since Caydiid is your role model I doubt he will inspire you to do the right for your country. :|

Yes my facts is my facts and same goes for yours.
