But then in the Somali clan system you are what your father is!
We just carry the name of warsengeli but we are part of Abgaal both Father and Mother.

Plus you have to back up what you say.

Peace.

It's pretty expensive, but as Somalis are "interesting" in terms of Y-DNA Genetic studies you might be able to get your local university to do it for free.

Either that or you can buy one of the testing kits from National Geographic, which has this Genographic Project thing.

You get a lot of other stuff with the kit too. I think it's a hundred bucks.
I think I'll get one too.

Exactly! And it makes me quite sad to realise that many here spend hours upon hours not engaging in dhikr of Allah, but arguing over whether their geneology links them to the Prophet Muhammad's (salallahu alayhi wasalam) blood line. What did his people ever do for him? How does claiming that you came from Banu Hashim or the Quraysh make you any better than someone else? Subhan'Allah, have you people ever come across the Prophet Muhammad's (salallahu alayhi wasalam) last sermon where he explicitly states that nationalism, tribalism, racism etc. have no place in Islam? May Allah guide us all subhan'Allah. :o :(
