Studies say we are closer to Europeans and Middle Easterners than those from the Congo Basin. Which is true. It's why we are E3b and J1 instead of E3a. It explains why we speak an Afro-Asiatic language and not a Bantu one.

Somalis are a diverse group of people. Genetically we are different to other Africans BUT we are closer to them than we are to Arabs or Europeans.

Acording to The Journey of Man, the skinnies broke off from the 13 other African population groups quite early (180,000 ?). Part of this group then left africa across the mouth of the Red Sea about 70,000 years ago, settling the rest of the world; so that Somalis and other skinnies are MUCH more closely related to Arabs, Jews, Amharas,Europeans, etc, than to any of the other African population groups. They are the source of both the Asian and European groups.
