I'm Canadian. I was shocked when I came to the realization of just how true that statement is when I went to Africa last year and to Carabta the year before (both for the first time) and realized just how foreign being immersed in a Somali culture and an Islamic culture were to me, since those have always been the essence of who I am and were always my cloak and robe.

You are completely correct. I have been to Somalia/Africa four times. One would think by each visit, you would feel more connected to them but it was the complete opposite for me. Every visit I had over there made me realize more that other than ethnicity and religion and a general language grasp, I share absolutely nothing else. You cannot basically think that you feel more at home to a place you have never lived in or a place that you left as a 1 year old. Ofcourse for the people born in the early 80s, or 70s or the older generation, but not the young folk.

When you see how even a mixed raced dude will get insulted about race or told to home in a street or bus argument, then you came to conclusion that there is only one homeland for all Somalis, regardless of whether you are cockney speaking Somalis or jerry curlling, skinny pant wearing dutch/scandanavian SOmali.

you know that saying does not mean where the heart is currently. :?

It means home is where you love the most. :D
 obviously!....I mean, what made you think I didn't mean where I love most at the moment? Maybe I should have put  instead of :)

Face palm moment. If that's how you feel then it must be something to do with your self esteem.
