Salaan is used in hargeisa and its close environs, more of a ladder then stairs though but it can be used interchangeably
i asked my mom we use salaan for ladder too

I say Qadifaad for carpet too! and mocoyo for grandma, but why u saying jaranjar/daraj and not kabad though where are u from? south galbed?
it has nothing to do where i'm from. kaabad is single the correct word is kaabado for stairs.

I learned something new today
When it comes to dialects I remember maalin qof igu tiri i duug walaal dhabarka intey isoo xijisey. Intaan yaabey baan dhahay maxaad tiri lol. She was like dee dhabarka ii duug and had to explain what it meant. Ilaa iyo hada markaan soo xasuusto waan ku qoslaa

Kushiin is kitchen. That's what I have learned. Not really sure which region it's from. I noticed Deeqa uses the word as well

My Somali spelling could be wrong

but this is how I say
House = Guri
Door = Ilbaab
Kitchen = kushiin
Spoon = Qaando
Bathroom = maqsul
Salt -= cusbo
Friend = sahiib
how you address a stranger = Habayar if women n i hardly call anything to men but if i do it will be adeer
the colour red = gadud
grandmother = aboto
refridgerator = Firinjer
carpet = carpet
stairs/staircase = jaranjaro

cos not everyone says kabad, dont be offended im jut curious theres also a third word for stairs im surpressed no one mentioned it loll it starts with an A lol

Yes, 80% of the time I use Kushiin rather than jiko. Somali language is full of loan Arabic and Italian words. Kushiin is derived from the word "Cucina" meaning Kitchen in Italian language. The pronunciation is Kushina I guess
