The reasoning behind women not being able to lead mixed prayers is based on common sense. Women bending over will and does distract the men praying behind them. Of course i'm talking about straight men. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if gays prayed behind women. But that's how things were done during the Rasuul's life and he wanted women to lead mixed prayers, he would have chosen Aisha (ra) or fatmah(ra) to do so.
