Re: DID YOU KNOW THAT ENGLISH IS REALY A CHANGED SOMALI!
Asc .....hello dear beautiful Somalis and all nice humans scattered around the globe.........welcome to another episode of wordology in which we will look back at how every current now english words or any other word in any language is of Somali origin ......and the prove is apart from my mother tongue which is Somali i speak other three languages and all the words in those three different languages 1. Arabic 2. English 3.Amharic that i speak when i looked at their origins they all come back to Somali.........and the great thing about Somali is its words when you go back to thier etimology they are all self explanatory in Somali language only.......that is why i became a staunch believer in all words in every language being of Somali origin......for all the random words from all the random languages i became familiar with also were Somali in origin...........for example i learned from the movies the word AMIGO which is Spanish now but when i checked if its etimology would go back to Sonali it did and it became thus:
AMIGO= AM + ii + GOO = AM (FOOD) Ii ( me) goo (cut) and friendship when young starts with sharing the food or drink that we have......giving a bit of your food ........
And i came across the now French word COIFFURE
coiffure
/kwɑːˈfjʊə,kwɒˈfjʊə/
noun
a person's hairstyle.
"Diana's intricately braided coiffure"
And when i put it back to its Somali origin it became
COIFFURE = KUU + FEER= KUU (FOR YOU) FEER (COMB) YOUR HAIR PUTTING IT IN THE STYLE YOU DESIRE.......
and i can go on and on but i'll stop with those two examples which reinforce my believe that all words no matter what language they are part of now are Somali...
That being said here is tonight's number one word........
1. Literature
Literature = La + tiri + jir= La ( been) tiri (recited poetry) jir (exist/remain) the poetry that has been recited/ said staying and circulating among the people long after the poet who authored/ uttered it had gone......
AMIGO= AM + ii + GOO = AM (FOOD) Ii ( me) goo (cut) and friendship when young starts with sharing the food or drink that we have......giving a bit of your food ........

Cattle : Qoo + taal = Qoo (wet/water) taal (stay) always can exist and trive by staying where there is abundance of water.....other wise it dies..........................and i got this meaning from the Amharic word for leaves/ grass which is QIDAL.........which is where the name CATTLE has originated......
Qidal = Qooi + taal= Qooi (where wet/ watered) taal (found) it is basic where it rains is where plants and grass grow.............

And word number three....................................................
3.Diverse = Dhaayo + faro + is = Dhaayo (eyeing/ looking) faro (fingers) is (self) when you look at your fingers you see how diverse they are in their lenght.....and whenever Somalis to this day want to prove how diverse people are in thier looks behaviour and characters they always use the FINGERS OF THE HAND to emphasise how we are all different even though we are all humans ......all like the fingers of the hands ...................so you will always here a Somali person say " dadku ma sinna, waa sidaa farahaas oo kale" which means " people are not the same just like fingers ARE NOT THE SAME) ....

Re: DID YOU KNOW THAT ENGLISH IS REALY A CHANGED SOMALI!
And word number six is Albanian ....for once in a while i have to insert a not English word to prove the fact that apart from English all other words in all other languages are Somali too, but since i don't know them languages at all i can't decipher them back to their So'maali origins...but the occasional word will always be there.....
6. pi ujë .... pronounced as (biyo) you can check the pronounciation on google but thier translation is lousy....
This word means DRINK WATER in Albanian and is the same as the current Somali word for water........
Pi ujë = Biyo = Bii + ya' + oo = Bii (erase/ eradicate by drinking) ya' (water) oo (crying) the hardship of being thirsty erased when water is drunk......and this hardship is akin to crying since you will be whining by complaining about being thirsty..........hence the current Somali word for water is a combination of three words..........what surprised me was the Albanian pronounciation same as the current Somali.... pi Bii ujë yo

Re: DID YOU KNOW THAT ENGLISH IS REALY A CHANGED SOMALI!
And word number eight is ..................................................
8. Good ........which the real native english speakers pronounce as Goob .....so instead of saying the standard " good morning" they'd be saying " goob morning"
Therefore this is what Good really means.......
Good = Gob .........which is the highest complement a Somali gives you when he/ she tells you " Gob baad tahay" which means you are a good person...............

Re: DID YOU KNOW THAT ENGLISH IS REALY A CHANGED SOMALI!
And word number nine is Arabic and it is a revisit and another prove how each word no matter in what language is of Somali origin...........the word is QADAM (feet) ........my first take of it was this:
Qadam = Qaad + dam = Qaad (lift it) dam (hit) the ground by putting back with the DAM/ THUD sound that is made when walking...............here is my new understanding and definition of this word which is another approach to how it could have originated when it was still in the making.........
9.Qadam
Qadam= Qaad + imo= Qaad (carry / take) imo (come) the ability to carry your whole body to places and bring you back.....the feer are the weight carriers and the act of lifting and puting the feet from the ground by the legs creates the motion......legs move ...feet carry
Take you..............

10. Pick (when it means taking a something from the ground and putting it somewhere elevated/higher)
Pick = Bidh (lift upwards)....................
And this is a bonus word.........................
Source = So' + uur + sii= So' (human/person) uur (making pregnant) sii (give) pe nis/ sperm ....pen/ink.........your father .....

Re: DID YOU KNOW THAT ENGLISH IS REALY A CHANGED SOMALI!
Asc....hello ....hi and welcome dear beautiful So'maalis out there and the rest all of the beautiful humans who may pass by this place.....this thread ......which we look at how every word under the sun is of African = Af + erey + keen= Af (Lanuage/mouth) eery (word ) keen (bring) = So'maali origin.
Unlike my previous episodes in which i used to decode/decipher/ break down ten now English words to their So'maaliness in a pace of an hour or two ..... i'll go at my leisure in a snail pace one word every hour or two hours.............it is always healthy to do the same thing in a slightly different way in accordance to your circumstances.......so here is the first word of this episode.........EQUAL.......how could it have originated back in them now long long gone epoch.......the amazing thing that helps me out is my command of other languages ......so in Amharic this very same word is called ...UKUL........you see how close it is EQUAL to both in pronunciation and meaning ......this helped me find out what UKUL could have been .....and then i had my eureka moment......long story short here is what it had meant......
EQUAL= OO + KALE= OO (AS ) KALE (SAME) which when read from right to left is SAME AS.....it boils down to the word SAME which means LIKE and EQUAL..

Re: DID YOU KNOW THAT ENGLISH IS REALY A CHANGED SOMALI!
Word number two of tonight's take your time with how each now English word is of So'maali origin episode is ...
HOSTILE............which brings to mind the So'maali word HESHIIS (agreement of no more hostilities) when this So'maali word is broken down you get two words which mean RUN + STAY/STOP......
HESHIIS= HOHI + OOSHIS= HOHI ( CHASE/RUN....ALSO WORD OF LAMENT) OOSHIS (STAY/STOP) running at each other to hurt one another stoppage ..............
This was the key to my understanding of what the word HOSTILE would have meant......
HOSTILE = HOHIS + TA + II + LE = HOHIS (RUNNING/ TO HURT MY ENEMY......OR RUNNING FROM BEING HURT BY MY ENEMY) TA (THE ONE) II(FOR ME ) LE (HAS)..... A SITUATION WHERE AM FORCED TO EITHER HASTEN TOWARDS INFLICTING HARM TO MY ENEMY OR HASTENING AWAY FROM HARM BEING INFLICTED ON ME BY MY ENEMY.........

Re: DID YOU KNOW THAT ENGLISH IS REALY A CHANGED SOMALI!
Once in a while i insert a random word from other languages to farther reinforce the fact that every word under the sun is of So'maali origin no matter what 'language'it is part of now......so here word number four...
it is now Arabic and is name of a currency.......DIRHAM....
so bear witness how it is composed of two So'maali words..................and in it also is a clue to what is the real purpose of money is...........
DIRHAM= DIR + HAM = DIR (BUY) HAM (FOOD) main purpose of money is to buy something to eat.......

archipelago
/ˌɑːkɪˈpɛləɡəʊ/

an extensive group of islands.
"the Indonesian archipelago"
a sea or stretch of water having many islands.
ARCHIPELAGO = ARKI + BIYO + LA' + GO'= ARKI (SEE/BEHOLD) BIYO (WATER) LA' (LACKING) GO' (CHUNK/PIECE) of land........or it might mean.....
ARCHIPELAGO = ARKI + BIYO + LE + GOO= ARKI (SEE/ WITNESS/BEHOLD) BIYO (WATER) LE (HAVE) GOO ( CUT) in to chunks what was before a whole mass of land......
