Mj Pride, Abdullahi Yusuf killed hundreds of Mareexaans in Ceel Habreed and other places with Xabashi support. Most of the people he killed were my own reer Siyaad and Wagardhac gelley. Also Balanbale has never stood back up again from the beating and utter destruction that was done to it by the SSDF and the Ethiopians. Do you know Balanbale was bigger then Caabudwaaq now Caabudwaaq is much bigger then even Dhuusamareeb and Balanbale continues to look like a hurrican 5 ground zero with decayed Xabashi tanks and unexploded armaments lying around.
Even after all that bad blood, we Mareexaan put this government on our shoulders and Barre Hiiraale was walking around Xamar saying Hawiyes need to support this government even when he was at their mercy there. Marka if we dont even carry grudges for the living man who had a direct hand in those things, why continue to hold on to a dead man who was not even aware such actions against civilians were being committed?

sadeboy,
Do you know what drove us to start a rebel group? Why did Siyad Barre arrest each and every Majeerteen intelectual that was in the government? Dude my grandfather's brother was a general, he ran away for no reason. He was a peace loving man. My uncle was jailed for 7 years, do you know for what? FOR NOTHING. My grandfather was laid off work, do you know why? Until today my grandfathers ex-wife(shes mareexan) hides it from me, so I dont build up hatred. She knows the truth, dude my grandfather was in exile for years. He came back because supposedly siyad barre "forgave" him for what? My father couldn't start his own business because he was Cusman Maxmuud. Afweyne shut down our ports, both kismayo and bosaso. We had to export and import from berbera, the isaaq prospered, and what happened to us? Afweyne locked up every majeerteen he could as soon as he took over the country. Dude we were left out, what would you do? Dude he poisened the wells of the reer badiyo Majeerteen for what? They didnt even know the political situation? Siyad Barre set up groups to go and rape Majeerteen women, my people died of thirst.. How bad would you feel? What would you do?
Now answer me this, when the majeerteen were in control of the government.. were there any human rights abuses? Did we rape your women? Did we kill your animals? so stop defending a dictator. The majeerteen government was a democratic one that was corrupt but Shermarke was changing everything and that is why he was killed because of some ignorant Majeerteen individuals, we were one of the first african countries who held peaceful elections.

He was a coward who attacked the civilians so the rebel groups would stop. Same thing Ethiopia is doing to the Ogaden... everytime ogaden kill ethiopian soldiers.. the ethiopians burn down a village. Is there any difference between what Afweyne did and what Ethiopia is doing right now to the ogaden?

Zak I really think you need to concentrate on your schooling then wasting time thinking up of lies about history. Your grandfather could not start business because he was Majeerteen and Siad Barre shut down "your" ports Kismaayo and Boosaaso miyaa? I won't even respond to the business part akhii but until 1991 Boosaaso was a tiny village with no port and Kismaayo was the second most important Somali port and was under control government. It was only after 1991 that clans claimed lands and ports iyo wax. Young kid make use of your time akhii.

Siyaad Bare saw something that no one else saw. After meeting Caydiid & Ina Yey, he said "These two are power hungary & will destroy Somalia". Soon afterwards, he sent them FAR away from his administration.
I remember his radio broadcasts during 1990 when he used to say "These rebel groups want nothing good for you, they will destroy the country." Fast forward to 2007 and we all know the truth.

Regardless if Bosaso port was small or not, he shut it down. The herders from Northern Somalia had to export their livestock and such from Berbera.

ZackAbdul,
Most people in the so called Rebel areas were indifferent to Siyaad until he started killing them.
Most of the victims in my qabiil in 1989 didn't even know what the USC was. All they were concerned with was living their lives in Mudug. One day in November 1989, Siyaad sent out his SNA unit to massacre these innocent civilians who didn't even suspect the SNA and welcomed them to their villages.
The rest is history. All those villagers became USC loyalists and made their trek to seek revenge.
So in the end, when the average Farax or Xalimo saw that Siyaad was the problem affecting their lives, the seeds for discontent and rebellion were planted to bear a bitter fruit for Siyaad's regime.

abdiwahab, akhii Siad Barre was 16 years ago. More innocent Hawiyes have died in the last 16 years at the hand of Hawiye then Siyaad could have done thousand years? Where are all the Habar gidir girls raped by Abgaal or vice versa? What about the hawiye old man and man told to give isbaaro money equal to their weight? what about the 500 those closest to each other, sacad and saleebaan killed from each other in two months that Darod (Marehan) had to physically stand between you and that Darod (Majerten) had to make peace between you?
akhii the legacy of USC is destruction on somalia gaar ahaan the people of Hawiye, xaasha

You can say that all day that Hawiie are barbarians but wasn't siyad the one to give galgale weapons because they were Darood. The Galgale started killing every Abgaal and Murusade they could get their hands on.
Siyad was solely responsible for that war its funny when you say Siyad archieved alot of good things in 21 years and when it comes to the bad things you blame it on some one else.
