Esis a you going to pay for his accommodation? dont think he is going to be paying for accommodation (could be wrong). uni cost already 7k and upto 9k a year plus if he leaves home he will have to take another loan for you his house. imagine 21k or more for tuition loan and then maintenance loan some 5k each year he has to pay back plus interest. before he even gets his certificate.

Why would he need to move away or more specifically live in student accomodation for him to 'enjoy his life'? Student Accomodation (halls) is no place for a young impressionable mind and thats not even mentioning the cost implications. He's much better off applying for a university in London.

A gap year! That's a good idea. Also there are plenty of apprenticeship if you want time out from uni. I think PwC do an accounting one.

For your gap year you could do the TEFL course and get paid to teach in a foreign country - figure out if it's something you want to pursue. If it is you might consider doing a PGCE qualified teachers get paid quite well in the middle east. Pay for your accommodation, utilities and as you know tax free salary...
