"Somali folks are pros at separating u from your money with great hard luck emotional stories that captivate you and next thing your hand is in your wallet forking over the green"
That reminded me of this one day when me and a friend were approached by a middle aged man seeking money for his asthma medication. I was truly touched when he mentioned that he was staying at a shelter and was in the country for merely a week from Kenya. He asked me directly to give him $20 dollars for that he can pay his co-pay and pick up his prescription at the pharmacy. I was so sympahized with the man, that even though I didnt have any cash on me, I was ready to go and pay for the med with my credit card. That is until my friend intervened and suggested he gets lost and scolded me for foolishly falling for his senseless story.
I seriously need to stop letting people take advantage of my big compassionate heart.

I dont answer Private calls no more might be them [/quote]
Did that in the beginning. I'm more relaxed now, with private calls I answer the phone by not saying a word. I just listen, let them say something first.
Ismahan, you need to stay away from those kinds of friends. If you had gone to the pharmacy and paid for his medication, then you would've known he was truly in need.
Spraga... You are a joker My cousin is exactly like you when ever you call him he never says something, he just listens and listens, till you say somthing
Ismahan, That guy was Rageedi. Wuu kaa dadsaday. Did you waste 50 dollar on QAAT? That guy must have been reer woqooyi uu ku gu aqriyeey. Typical Reer Woqooyi waxay kaa dhaadhacsiin karaan inaad tahay goroyo
....never lend to relatives or friends, whatever you give....give as present or charity and don't expect to get it back even if they say they'll pay back....
^ exactly ..usually when i borrow money i don't expect it back from relatives... and if i get it back i see it as a bonus..
But what really pisses me off is when relatives comes over and they borrow everything from cloths to personal accessories..
when i got my first car...i remember how my little cousin who's a menace came over once took my car with out my permission, then ran out of petrol .. parked in the middle of the road. (Unfortunately he knew how to drive) and had the nerve to come back the same night just to bring back the keys! only for me to catch a taxi and arrive at the scene with my car in the back of a pick up truck ready to pull my car away.. Mova fukka cost me £125 on the spot!
So now i just usually keep something like a cap on display for sacrifice ! or i pretend no one is at home because relatives dont take no for an answer!
