Actually the real reason waa to stop women from "enjoying sex" at least thats what I think.

FGM is a barbaric act, it's cruel, in human and downright stupid practice. No one has the right to remove another human being's external genital organs, that is wrong and downright pathetic, not to mention disgusting. If you ask me the whole thing is invented by insecure nomads Odeyal who believes women can't control their sexual urges and they'd rape anything that walks, and to prevent that from happening it must be controlled by mean necessary.
