Sir Lug,

the author of this book didn't claim to tame these savage tribes......in fact he left having claimed unable to do anything to tame them.

anyways, Somalis are not as brave as they claim, but I think they are more insane.

In East African history books, Somalis are described to be tall, dark, handsome, agressive, very hard to please and usually make love lying on their side, loool. Wlaahi I read that in a book, don't remember the name but the last characteristic made me laugh histerically. How can you make love lying on your side?? Luggooyo did you ever have sex with a woman lying on your side Laughing

I agree with Mukhtaar. The somali of today has been demoralized by the 16 years of war.

The author of the book was Irish. His tribe was tamed by the British too.

Lugooyo,

Kismaayo umaad dhalanin. Awoowgaa Dool buu ku yimi. If he wasnt brave or adventurous he never would have got there. And they were moving south. If it werent for the English most of Kenya would be muslim and somali speaking today.

The same author quoted by Gedo Boy makes the same observation. That the English halted an inexorable Somali advance.

Somalis are not as ancient as most people believe.

I have noticed the most numerous Mareexaan subclan are Reer Dalal Diini. And I have seen an old man in the seventies who told me that his grandfather actually saw Dalal Diini in the flesh.

The most numerous Ciidagale clan are Reer Guuleed. And there was a guy who died in the sixties who was a grandson of the same Guuleed(Qowdhan Ducaale Guuleed)

Habar Yoonis most numerous clan are Reer Caynaanshe. Caynaanshe's grandson Diiriye Sugule Caynaanshe was alive to see the first English colonialists at Ceeg.

The most Numerous Dhulbahante subclans Hagar and Naalleeye Axmed trace a few grandfathers to their eponymous ancestors.

The most numerous faction of Habar Jeclo are Reer Daahir. And he was alive in the late 18th century.

in the sixteen century when Somalis were fighting in the Axmed Gurey Army All Harti were grouped as one entity. They must have been too small to be set apart.

Cilmiile,

Could it be thjat my awoowe was being chased when he landed in Kismayo? Why does it have to be bravery and adventure when there tons of other possiblities?

Anyone who was anyone ended up getting the best cut of the pie and the reason why we ended up scraping for the crusts is, our ancestors didn't had the guts to fight for the juicy part.

Luggoyo,

Your theories have been shot down.

Unmatched numbers of horses and camels in Northern Somalia, lush green farmland in Southern Somalia, Oil in Ogadenia, Uranium deposits throughout the country, and arguably more livestock than any other country in Africa (why else would Dubai make that deal with Puntland?)...

If anything, Somalis have the best land in Africa, counting NFD and Ogadenia, and probably the single largest country with a good set of natural resources, in Africa, and quite possible top 30 in the world, IF EXPLOITED. Fact.

Cracking dry jokes won't help your half-assed and false assumptions, so cut it there.

Fact is Somalia is one of the largest natural resource deposits in the world.

Why else did France, Italy, and Britain occupy it? And why do the Kenyans and Ethiopians occupy it today? Explain to me that, dumb motherfocker.

Would they occupy an empty and barren wasteland or a piece of property worthy of losing many lives over? Rolling Eyes

Dhameen, prideless and mindless.
