There was a website that used to Show Pictures of Xamar BM(Before Mooryaan). It was full of pictures and had a Guest book. One comment in the guest book was by an American temporarily seconded to the UN office in Nairobi. He was on a fact-fanding mission to Xamar in the late 50s and his first night in Croce Del Sud there was a massive clash between supporters of Italy and SYL supporters of immediate independence.

He identified the first group as Abgaal and the latter as Majeerteen.

Cabdullahi Ciise was deeply opposed to Italian colonization and was chosen to make Somalia's case at the UN.

With the Majeerten, the philosophy was No. 1 under Italian rule and if we are not # 1 in government after independence, we would rather be colonized.
