The port in Kismayu may have been developed by the Russians, but it was built by Bechtel under USAID as a loading site for the banana trade. In 1967 there was only room for one ship at a time at the dock.

who the hell is talking about 1967, i'm talking about late 70's and early 80's when carter and then nixon signed treaties with President Siyaad to have bases in Kismaayo and Berbera in exchange for support.

in somalia , the only natural harbour is berbera , the deepest one in the country , but none could rival djibouti/dorale port , mombasa port or mocha port (yemen) in the next century
