Dawladsade, I heard when reer siyaad are paying blood money, the reer cabdile pay 1/2 of the diya while the others combined pay the other half.
I didn't know reer Cabdille Siyaad were that big compared to other reer siyaad subclans.

DS, that explains alot.
As for M S Barre (RH) being enlisted in the King's African Rifles, then it is incorrect. He was trained by them, but he was never enlisted there.
Dozens of obituaries have been written about him and never do they mention his enlisting of King's African Rifles.

There is only obituary I have ever read and you read it too literally. No one is trained by anyone without enlisting. It is not college sxb nor post-colonial where states sign bilateral agreements to train soldiers in return for something.. You enlisted then you got trained.
Why does it seem ceeb that a young Maxamed Siad Barre tried to look for a livelihood by joining the colonial army? How many Somalis did it? Infact isn't that what propelled him to become the Commander in chief of Somalia and later president?
He was also Colonial police. Ceeb ma leh sxb, if people were part of the Colonial armed forces in the 50's or something. The embarrassment is if they WORKED with them in taking over the land in the beginning, say in the late 1800's and very early 1900's.

Sxb, I know that he worked for the Colonial police, but not in that particular branch (KAR).

Warsame, that is still the Colonial administration. What you are saying is I ate the apple but not the skin.
Siad went on a course run by the King's African Rifles at Kabetti, in Kenya, and thereafter was employed in the special branch of the British Colonial Police, which took control of the Corpo Zaptie. This experience was his introduction to political intrigue, at which he proved adept. He rose to the highest rank then possible for an indigenous Somali.
He did what he had to do and I am glad he went through that experience because it paved the way for everything including making him understand the workings behind imperialism.

, I understand what you mean. My issue was not with him being enrolled in to the Colonial police.

Re: A Mareexaan sarkaal working for the King's African Rifles
My great grandfather was not a member of the darawiish, matter of fact he used to steal the cattle the Sayyids forces plundered from the ppl. Once he was captured and 2 marexaans were ordered to execute him. They couldnt kill a fellow marexaan, so they took him to a field and told him to run, they would fire shots in the air and cry 'He escaped!!'.
It obviously worked, else i wouldn't be here typing!

Haha, you must be joking mate.
Do you hear me asking for your 'acceptance'. I'm starting to regret joining these forums, i was
told it was full with half-wits, and i'm starting to believe it.
I dont need to join the Somalinet Sade posse, i'm more than happy to just contribute as an individual Marexaan.
