DB Developer, Shilka how's the job market for DBA in Brazil
---------------------
ORGEONES, Its really hot right now. We're hiring at Intel, check our website here:
http://www.intel.com/jobs/jobsearch/ind ... =200000025
---------------------
You only need some decent experience, roughly 2-5 years, and only a Bachelor's degree for my position, which we need another of. Go to the link and apply.
Good luck, we need more Somalis in Sao Paulo.

Re: What do you do for a Living?
Shilka, being a DB I assume you know SQL pretty good. I took a course on that in school (reports, quireies etc.). It was alright. What kind of Databases do you work with? I know DB's get paid out the ass, with a starting salary of like 80k or some shit. The only thing I don't like about it is the potential of a lot of DB jobs going to India, as they know database like the back of their ass. But theres enough jobs for everyone I guess.

Re: What do you do for a Living?
FAH1223, I am Somali, and we don't have many else out here. I know maybe two families, both related, and they have plans of entering the United States within the next year, so it takes away the feeling that there's a community here. We do, however, have around several hundred thousand Palestinians and Lebanese in Brazil, mostly in Sao Paulo.
Gurey25, there aren't really any Somalis here besides me and the two related families I met here. I speak very little Portuguese but that's not a problem since all of my co-workers are American and/or speak fluent English. The sad part about working with Linux is that at Intel, we see a growing number of Mac users with our product in their computers, our monopoly is growing and Linux is not part of it, so they're sort of left out when it comes to high-powered processing.

Re: What do you do for a Living?
Gurey25, I thought you were an American college student looking for adventure, from the way you sounded. If you are in Dubai, stay there. Sao Paulo is where Dubai rejects go -- if we don't get employment in Dubai we usually opt for somewhere less glamorous.
Sao Paulo is nothing like Rio de Janeiro so don't be confused. We house the largest population of minorities in the country, as far as I've seen, and we're sort of a repository for everything, but we've taken all the garbage and turned it into gold. We have tons of shanty towns here so beware, this is a dirty, gritty, industrial city, not somewhere relaxing or glamorous. This is not the Brazil you hear about on the travel channel.
I wasn't recruited from anywhere. I was recommended by my boss in the US to go and work in our Sao Paulo department [our only one in Brazil] and I took the job.
