i'm not a fan of Harry Potter, but i'm well aware of its success. when 100 million kids and their parents are in line 9 weeks before it's release what the hell do you really expect huh, here's the thing, RH3 will not make $70.2m in it's opening weekend, i'll even help you out, i'll go see it Cool but come next monday, the headlines will read "Bourne Tops Box Office Again," RH3 will make about $50m,

I still say Rush Hour 3 will earn more money not just the US but worldwide as Jackie Chan is more famous internationally than matt damon. Very Happy AS for HARRY POTTER THTS ANOTHER LEAGUE DEE. Cool

RH3 will probably take the top spot, but I highly doubt that it'll make more than 70m.

gurey25,

I don't watch a movie again for the plot......obviously you know what's gonna happen!
But I can usually watch high action movies a 2nd or 3rd time just to relive the action sequences and pick up different elements of the action focusing on another thing each time.

I know Rush Hour, it's gonna be funny but it's probably not something I can watch again.

The last good action movie I saw was SHOOTER

Gatspy,

Been great dear. I know alot of people who packed for Caribana this weekend, not my cup of tea either. I'm a city person as well, but I think its good to get away sometimes and explore the outdoors or just relax being surrounded by nature. In your case, I guess it makes you miss the city. Laughing

For the record, RH3 DID BEAT Bourne for the No.1 Spot, but FAILED to match the $70.2 million opening weekend that Bourne posted only a week earlier, as a matter of fact, i was right, RH3 made exactly $50M in it's opening weekend, i didn't see it, but word on the street is that it isn't even that funny. oh well,

Rush Hour 3 beats Bourne to box office title
Sunday August 12 1:31 PM ET

Hapless martial arts hero Jackie Chan knocked amnesiac assassin Jason Bourne out of the top spot at the box office this weekend.

"Rush Hour 3," the buddy film starring Chan and Chris Tucker that comes six years after the duo's last romp, grossed $50.2 million in its first weekend at U.S. and Canadian theaters.

"The Bourne Ultimatum," the third installment of the espionage action series starring Matt Damon as a one-time CIA hit man searching for his past, took in $33.7 million in its second weekend playing in North American theaters, a 51 percent drop, according to studio estimates on Sunday.

Animated feature "The Simpsons Movie" dropped 56 percent in its third weekend to $11.1 million, but pot-bellied anti-hero Homer Simpson still came out on top of two newcomers.

In their first weekends, "Stardust," a fantasy film starring Claire Danes, grossed $9.0 million at number four on the charts, and "Daddy Day Camp" took in $3.6 million and debuted at number 10.

The long delay since the last "Rush Hour," was seen as a challenge for Tucker and Chan. "Rush Hour 2" set a record August opening of $67.4 million in 2001, which held until last week, when "The Bourne Ultimatum" took in $69.3 million.

"Rush Hour 3" was released by New Line Cinema, a unit of Time Warner Inc. "The Bourne Ultimatum" was released by Universal Pictures, a unit of General Electric Co.'s NBC Universal Inc.

"The Simpsons Movie" was released by 20th Century Fox, a unit of News Corp., "Daddy Day Camp" was released by TriStar Pictures, a unit of Sony Corp., while "Stardust" was released by Paramount Pictures, a unit of Viacom Inc.

Ismahan,

the question wasn't if Bourne would keep the top spot over 2nd weekend of Bourne.......the Q was who would make more money OPENING weekend.

I knew Rh3 wouldn't make close to Bourne.....Rh3 was funny, but my laughs were not too sincere, half chuckles at best.

Now Bourne was gripping.......in Rh3 I was wondering if I should have seen Bourne..........for the 3rd time Laughing

&70+ mil - Bourne's OPENING weekend.
$50 mil - Rh3's OPENING weekend.
$33.3 mil - Bourne's SECOND weekend.

$20 mil difference in OPENING weekend........it's closer to compare Bourne's 2nd weekend with RH3's OPENING weekend where the difference would be only $13 mil in RH3's favor.
