Well...to honest, USA depresses me because of its extemely capitalist ways. Im no communist, but I admire the public health system in the UK, the £3000 a year for University (including the best ones), and all the other social benefits. If it wasnt for the weather, I would stay in England forever. So no, I dont admire America, what does it have that I cant find anywhere else? We have Crispy Kremes and the Gap here too.
The problem with the Ummah is superstitions. They need to realise that hard work and the seeking of knowledge pays off.

I know of famous Somali and Arab belief that "That Allah gave the West this World and we HereAfter"

The republic is in it's last throes. Yep, the US is a sad empty shell of what it once was or what it once proclaimed to be. Now we just see how long the death gurgle will last.

Post-Mortem America: Bush's Year of Triumph and the Hard Way Ahead

It is, by any measure, a remarkable achievement, one of the greatest political feats ever. Despite Bush's standing as one of the most despised presidents in American history, despite a Congress in control of the opposition party, despite a solid majority opposed to his policies and his war, despite an Administration riddled with scandal and crime, despite the glaring rot in the nation's infrastructure and the callous abandonment of one of the nation's major cities to natural disaster and crony greed -- despite all of this, and much more that would have brought down or mortally wounded any government in a democratic country, the Bush Administration is now in a far stronger position than it was a year ago.

How can this be? The answer is simple: the United States is no longer a democratic country, or even a degraded semblance of one.

Again, look at the facts, the reality: Bush wants Congressional approval of his illegal surveillance; he gets it. Bush wants to launch spy satellites against the American people; he does it. Bush wants concentration camps and secret prisons with torture; he's got them. Bush wants to escalate a ruinous, murderous, unpopular war; he does it. He wants to declare people "enemy combatants" and imprison them indefinitely; he does it. Bush's spokesmen openly claim that the laws passed by the people's representatives are "just advisory" and "the president can still do whatever he wants to do," and there is no outcry, no action, no defense of the Republic against this overthrow of the Constitution.

Why is neither valid Question
See my first post in this thread. The US is not after "The" ummah, and will amost certainly be supporting more than half "The" ummah against Iran and that portion of "The" ummah.

Your definitions once again have you in a corner defending an impossible position. Note that the Wahaabis are paid hereditary defenders of the House of Saud and that Wahaabi-influenced tribes in Diyala province are already in alliance with Americans against Al-Qaeda in Iraq. The Saudi's know about the Republican Guard in the southeast Shia-dominated area of Saudi Arabia. Do you think they are going to let that pass? The fight is going to be a three-way deal between Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia for control of the oil fields and the Middle East. The US will ally with the Saudis.

Your definitions work only if you count just those who share your Takfiri position, which at this point doesn't even include all Wahaabbis. I am counting all mainstream Muslims. Secular or religious isn't going to matter. This is going to be a national affair based on national interest.

Although none of what you have pointed out is false the beauty of America is her dynamic nature. Next ones in will probably restore all the damage done by Bush's government.

ndolo,

That's what I've been thinking lately. Which of the candidates will just grab even more power? Is there one who would do the right thing and reestablish America's democracy? I highly doubt it!

Grant

I am a bit puzzled here by you.

You know who america is going to side with ----protecting self interest i suppose.
You seem to anticipate a war which is not on the horizon---u can see around the bends maybe!
And lastly you talk of divisions within islam that i (a muslim)have never heard of.(takfiri Confused )

I can only assume that after industrialization has freed you from the otherwise unending tasks of fending for yourselves, all that is left now is study others to know them more than they know themselves.

IN ORDER TO CONTROL THEM ?

This is the borg mentality my freind, choose Enterprise--boldly go where no body has gone before but , LIVE AND LET LIVE.
