Abdiwahab your absolutely right. Infact a lot of Marehans on this site, lost very close family in Diinsoor, Idaale and the other frontline battles in and around Baydhabo. Lakin what I meant to say was the leadership was strictly Hawiye and inparticular Cayr. The 'Shura Council' of the ICU was almost all Hawiye, with no Darood representitives except for a member or two. Lakin the fighting forces of the ICU were swelled with Ogaden and Marehan soldiers just like in the Itixaad days.

Regardless of what percentage of what clan dominated the UIC. What I was most impressed was with their accomplishments, I am a witness to their achievements. To walk the streets of Mogadishu without fear of being abducted, robbed or killed and getting my father's home without any ransome was enough for me.

the ICU in Xamar did wonderful work, no question about it. They had a lot of good qualities. Also when they came to Kismayo, its not like they did any sort of large scale Xasuuq and kufsi or anything. Lakin I question their credentials of being a national movement instead of a regional (Xamar and its environs) movement.

No question the oppritunists within the ICU wasted the efforts of the sincere members of it. The ICU really should have distanced themselves from those elements.

Abdiwahab, the ICU was support by everyone when the did away with idiots who held back Mogadishu like Qaybdiid. Many Mareexaans went there in droves to fight against them and that is why the ICU was able to win so quickly, because of support from Darods like Mx and Og. You are right, ICU focked itself up when they had a good chance and now they are left hiding in the bushes and being Afeworki''s polished dolls.
