Koronto,
my cousin goes to St Johns and he really likes it there. Med school is really time consuming and you need to be really prepared mentally. My bro is also in Med school and I barely see him. He visited me last month after nearly eight months. U seem like a focused guy, go for it.

I don't know why anyone could go to a Med School in the Carribean. If you can't get into on in the states, go to the UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand if you have to..Not the Carribean. Uff.

The only downside with Carribean Schools is the reputation factor. Most people who go to school there couldn't cut it for Stateside schools.
Another option, Koronto, is going to school in India. It costs a fraction of what costs to go to school in the Carribean and you will always have access to plenty of good Masjids with in walking distance of campus

Care Bears/Posh/Ashlee,
These Universities in the Carribean were set up by American Corporations who saw a quick way to make $$$. They are easy to get in to, most of them don't require MCAT scores, those that do, they require low scores. If you haven't taken all of your pre-requisites, they give you the option of finishing everything on their premises. And they accept U.S. Financial Aid.

Actually my major is Business Finance.

I could easily get a degree in microbiology or any science degree but I want to major in Business Finance while still doing the pre-med requirements. Double the load.

Abdi,
India? Heaven forbid! My first plan is to ace the MCAT, if I don't then I know of a very good University in Hamilton, Canada that has a promising Med School that I have my eye on.
The only disadvantage to studying Medicine abroad is you have to take the MLEA Foreign exam for MD licensing, which is unnecessarily expensive & hard.

Like Abdiwahab said, the Carr. schools are expensive and only two have a good rep. ( St. Georges and Ross). The schools in the Uk, Aus, and Nz cost just as much, but have a better reputation. On top of that, if you ever decide not to move back to the US, you could stay in one of those countries and do your res. there ( I can't really say that about the Carr. - it's shit ).
At the end of the day, you're going to be an IMG, so it won't make a difference if you graduate from a Carr. Med school or a Med school in another country.

That's how you do it. Most people think you have to be a Pre-med major to go to Med School, but you can even be English major and still get in as long as you meet the requirements.
Optometry always struck me as being a promising field. But Primary Care/Family Medicine beats specializing anyday!
