levant arab are mostly arabized, they were not really arabs in the first place.
a black mullato saudi can be considered more of a an arab than one blonde syrian
if the black saudi, father is an arab, and he traces his lineage, back to his clan and tribe.
this could also be seen vice versa.
the blonde syrian could be a real arab, trace his lineage back to his clan,
while the black saudi may not be arab after all.
its all to do with lineage,
and who is arab and who is arabized,
the majority of the blidad al sham and iraq were not arabs, the same with Egypt.
vast immigration of arab tribes happned and so did intermarriage, but the bulk of the population
was really arabized,

Metal, true the gulf Arabs couldnt escape from the teachings of Islam, once a slave has embrace Islam he/she is no more a slave. But being Arabs they couldnt get enough of the Bambuti women

Gurey,
I know that the Levant Arabs are ARABIZED; but even being ARABIZED they've done a lot less mating with Turks and Africans, as opposed to the Gulf Arabs who are obsessed with foreign booty.

who said they did not intermarry.
a small population of syrians and egyptians are really turks after all.
in recent years, 19th century you can throw in Circassians(chechens, ingush, etc), armenians, georgians.
plus the slave trade from the time of the khulafa al rashideen all the way to the ottoman empire
flooded the middle east with Turkish slaves, and Russian slaves, and slaves from the rest of Europe.
all of these added to the mix.
The mamlukes slaves that ruled egypt for years where mostly kipchak turks and slavs from the Ukraine.
you notice the bantu african mixture in the pot, but you do not notice the much more diverse stew that is the middle east.

Theres not much present of Sub Saharan Africans past the Sinai Corridor or mass migration of them pass egypt into the Levants. Black slaves werent much of a commodity but on the other side levantines and eastern europeans were enslaved by both Arabs and Turks, theres mix phenotypes that exist in both populations (Turks and Arabs) blue eyes and blondism at low frequences.

It must have been my eyes then; because I've never seen a group of Arab people as diverse looking as the Southern Arabs, and never have I seen an Arab group as homogeneously Caucasian looking as the Levant Arabs.

Re: Is Sultan Qaboos of Oman half African/Somali
it is not that difficult if you look back in history.
there is a difference between langauge and ethnicity.
the origin of the semetic speaking people was yemen.
the people up north in the fertile crecent belonged to a wide micture of ethnic and racial groups,
basically racially and genetically speaking, most of the levant was of the same racial group as the people of the balkans and central asia.
waves of semetic speaking people immigrated from arabia into the fertile crecent, starting from
the cannanites dialctes, like the Amorites, edomoites etc etc, followed by the akkadians and babylonians and Assyrians.
the same way arabization of the non arab population happened after the muslim conquests,
the same thing happened in the between 4000 and 2000 bc.
the non semetic populations were assimilated and were soon speaking semetic languages, but they were not of the same race as the immigrants from yemen, although intermarraige occured ofcourse..
