I don't know what you base on your observation. A clinical or laboratory research? An observation has been made that supports the notion that a Muslim with knowledge of deen becomes a better Muslim in the West? There are good or better Muslims found everywhere, be it in the West or Muslim lands. However, the (social) environment where a Muslim lives is important in how it shapes his/her lifestyle, ideology, orientation, etc. An environment where partying, clubbing and boozing is the norm can have a negative influence on the individual Muslim. The human being is only weak; it doesn't help him/her to be in the presence of temptations every day.
