Well thats more greenery I could imagine Bari ever had. Are those just select shots of some greenery or are there actually swathes of land in Bari like that?

I'm sure there are. The problem is that there are so few people who ever visit those places that you'll hardly see any photos of it. Most of inner Bari is totally undiscovered. A major highway runs through Bari, from Bosaso, down to Qardo, then to Garoowe, and more south towards Burtinle and Gaalkacyo. No one dares venture a single mile east or west of that road or they'll be lost.

And until we run out of enough land to force us into living in the highlands, we'll be stuck with the concept of the Bari desert as the only Bari we know.

Lug Ganane, let me make things clear. You seem to be confused with the location where the Maakhir troops have concentrated their efforts for the environmental preservation of Sanaag.

Sanaag including western Bari a.k.a Maakhir is divided into four major basins: The Sool Plateu basin, the Al Mado(Calmadow) basin, the Gebi Basin, and Haded Basin.

Most of the deforestation or charcoal production had taken place in the Sool plateau because these are areas starting from Dhahar up to Taleh in southern Sanaag and Southwestern of Bari where several subclans of Warsangeli settle.

The Almadow is part of the Golis Range from Erigavo to Elayo. It is beautiful and several publications have been written about this place. It is owned by families of Warsangeli who practice some form of farming there. The place is also highly regulated and whoever is caught can hardly escape. Plus, the Acacia tree is not available in Cal Madow. Ask about Endowed_man, he recently came from there.

Biyo Kulule is located in Bosaaso. It is the heart of Warsangeli land but the settlers are MJs.
