^^^ Yes, I think there needs to be a thread about some of these lesser known groups b/c I don't know much about Digil & Mirifle.

GB,

The Raxanweyn group will ,judging by their past and current tactics, assmiliate all other Sab group to the point of just calling Sab=Raxanweyn.

From every information source the two names of Digil-Mirifle and Raxanweyn are interchangable...and other Somali nomad clans do not care...they just call every maay-speaking person: Raxanweyn.

So Digil clans like Geledi which were once a power to be reckoned with will dissapear into the group of Raxanweyn.

Shirib,

Isn't this whole name of Digil iyo Mirifle meant to assimilate Digil clans into Raxanweyne?

For example, the Raxanweyne live mostly in Bay, Bakool, Luuq/Baardheere. The Digil clans live in lower shabelle mostly.

This whole name of Digil iyo Mirifle is meant to expand the influence of Raxanweyn eastwards to the coast.

The Raxanweyn group is the only Somali group that can assimilate other groups ....and this is the danger that Digil groups face. Today its Digil iyo Mirifle...with most Somalis seeing Geledi as Raxanweyn.....tommorow it is a well-accepted FACT.

BTW.....are Mirifle groups DIR? or just Mirifle?.....if they are Dir they should come under than name...but if they are Sab they should just call themselves Mirifle and go into alliances with their neigbours...for example Geledi with Wacdaan/Murusade.....and other Mirifle groups southwards with Biyamaal.
Somaliweyn

Actually Digil is actually an older entity then Mirifle. Mirifle just fot bigger through out the years.

Mirifle and Rahanwein are the same thing. Their names are interchangeable. M

But your right that most people think that Digil y Mirifle and Rahanwein are the same thing when Digil clans are not Rahanwein.

These clan lines were drawn up centruries ago and I don't see them changing anytime soon but anything is possible.

I have never heard anything like Mirifle being Dir. I always heard them as being Sab.

We never fought in the civil war. Infact no Digil has actually fought in the civil war unless you call two day skirmishes fighting.

Geledi ruled Shabelle hoose and parts of Banadir for hundreds of years. Our time is up and over.

No need to kill our fellow brothers.

Geledi is actually very well respected and they really aren't bothered that much by the surrounding clans

Shirib....

Thanks 4 the info.

I was reading this book and it mentioned “Biymaal and Wacdan” resistance against the Italian intruders in 1893. The bloody author stated that Biymaal comes under Dir, but by some means ditched Wacdan 2 the other side, without citing the specific clan they fall under.....

Don't get it twisted we still get harrassed even to date we do. Its just not as bad as some other folks

In the 90's the biggest fight between Hawiye and Darood was in Afgooye guess who lives there and were unarmed.

Fortunatley or unfortunatley the heaviest fighting was in the Wacdaan side.

Ureyso: no problem for the info.
Istun is part of Dabshidka, an old pre-Islamic practice people thought that by doing would make their harvests better that year.

This is a shirk and all Somali religious leaders have spoken out about it. Shirib do you still defend it?
We need to keep and preserve our culture Bro. Screw the Arabs. Lets have our own culture and if possible our own religion Cool

Ba'aa

Hey xan ma fiicno, so I will tell you, when I first seen your facebook I said to my brother inanka waa atheist, he laughed and said he is just being complex. But this just proves my point. Walaal, Islam is not an arab religion. Islam is a religion for those who wish to life in a happy life here and the hereafter. Do not judge islam by individuals and cultural practices, but judge the religion by what it preaches. If you can point out the flaws of the Islamic religion that would be great, we can have a dialogue, and eventually come to an understanding and inshallah you can come back to the correct path.
