Re: Al-Shabaab Lightening Up A Little
Somali4Life gave out fatwa's against Majeerteen, said Abu Mansoor and Hassan Turki's blood was hallal to spill but praiseed. He calls Darood munafiqs. The guy gets overboard with his qabiil and Islam mixing.

there is no alternative
every somali group/organization can not be trusted because they never show results and none have vision
the good thing w/ shabab is atleast they fight the ethiopians
the TFG is recognized and ish, but has no power and no structure, certainly no unifying actors, so it is useless
My advice to men like Abu Mansur is to not be a blabber mouth and instead focus on improving their relationship with Sh. Shariif and the others. I can't believe he actually has the audacity to talk about Sh. Shariif being away from battle in December 2006 when he himself was in Saudi Arabia. This is not the time to point fingers and call more knowledgeable men "Cilmaaniyiin" which is essentially calling another Muslim a Murtad. If Sh. Shariif is a Murtad, what does that make Abu Mansur?
There should be reconciliation between freedom fighters and occupiers/collaborators? How can there be reconstruction/progress where there's insecurity and armed/military conflict? You say you blame everyone; is that including America?

FAH1223,
The Islamic Courts Union made a lot of progress:
-They removed all 71 Isbaarooyin from Banadir.
-They provided security to all of the residents of their territories.
-They elected a committee that foresaw the returning of looted properties to their rightful owners.
-They shut down pornographic cinemas.
-They re-opened the sea port and air port.
-They reconstructed Masjid Sh. Ali Sufi, Isbaheysiga & Arbaca Rukun.
-They cleaned up the streets from garbage & debris.
-They opened all of Mogadishu's main roads.
-They raised $1.2 million for flood victims of 2006.
-They banned charcoal trade.
-They banned Khat.
-They funded many orphanages and Islamic madrasahs.
I know all of this firsthand, because I went back to Mogadishu in June 2006 and saw all of their work, I don't need to read half-baked stories from Reuters or the AP that they were "extreme" or "the new Taliban."
What has the "TFG" done? Where did all the international donor money go? What ministiries have they re-opened? What security have they provided? Why should anyone support them?
The ICU made many efforts to reconcile with the "TFG", they went to Khartum, Djibouti, Libya, Saudi Arabia to meet with "TFG" officials, but how can you reconcile with someone who doesn't call the shots? Ethiopia & America called all the shots, not any "TFG" official, so it was futile from day one.

of course, America calls the shots
Koronto, I agree about the ICU, they were the ones who made the progress. They are the only ones who come to mind in Benadir, loool you didn't have to remind me, sxb
but they were the ones who made the mistakes and faulted themselves to get the ethiopians in, no can deny that. The situation was way too delicate for such hardline talk...IMO
shabaab is NOT ICU, though, they broke off from them and there is a rift now
more fights, more poverty, more disease

Mere talking of jihad led to invasion and occupation?
