Re: SU'AAL DADOW.....
A/W.. you just described the somali culture. Werid that.
Helwaa.. Its culture. Not islamic. I know that Abu Abkr would walk behind the prophet (saw) sometimes in order to protect him, but he would sometimes walk in front of him also.? Lol.-if that helps.

Re: SU'AAL DADOW.....
The answer is simple. The reason why you are still single. With your feminist attitude, you will be often coming on somalinet and whine.. why men do this to their wife, and why that....
At least the woman who was walking behind had a husband while you dont...
Derbi,

Never walk behind a woman, ibn Jubayr said: "Temptation came to David (peace be upon him) merely through a glance. Therefore. He told his son (Soloman-peace be upon him): "O my son! Walk behind a lion or a black cobra, but never walk behind a woman" (Ibid, vol. II, p370)

Sad but true! :-)
Sadly, we don't take Sunna from our Prophet anymore & we suppress even xalaal aspects of our sexuality just because it appears moral to those without religious knowledge.

Lil_Cutie,
That's b/c walking behind a woman who is not xalaal to you is too much of a temptation. Similar to why women don't pray in front of men, they may be tempted to wait just a 2nd or too so they can see the women can get in the sujood position.

It is not talking in the wife sense. :) But other women and this also comes in context with lowering the gaze.. Your right. Our Nabi (saw) taught his companions in the masjid and in congregational prayers to wait when they are finished so that the women behind could leave first. He would advice them to do dhikr, pray etc to give time for the women to leave. & yes, women leading the prayer is also out of the question.
