SO- in old somali language and still in maay maay means hilib meat

MAAL- the etymology of this is to live off of

IA- Latin for land

So SO-MAAL means those who live off meat. Pastoralists and nomads.

SO-MAAL-IA: land of those who live off meat.

BI-MAAL: those who live off biyo water
DU-MAAL: Live off ur Dumashi
TU-MAAL: live of beating metal blacksmith

Are you going to tell us that the Italians mysteriously found their way in that part of the world in that particular period and played a huge role in the IA of Indonesia?

IA is the only latin, maybe we should call it Somalistan, then it won't be latin but will mean the same exact thing.

They can talk plenty about the LAND in Somaliland being of colonial origin but a discussion on the origin of the IA in Somalia disturbs people I wonder why??

IA is a suffix used by many nations and isn't colonial. Countries that weren't colonized use IA at the end.

The colonial terms were

Italian SomaliLand
British SomaliLand
French SomaliLand.

Somalia was born in 1960.

Then how can anyone talk about Somaliland bearing a colonial foreign name?

No Somalia is not Italian word it is in English ... Somalia in Italian is "SOMALO" if you want to say in italian Iam in Somalia you say Io sono i Somalo ... and if you want to say Iam somali in italian is Io sono Somalo,
