They are a fundamental Islamist/nationalist party, and in their ideology, in order to be considered a complete Malaysian national, you have to be a Muslim first.

As a Somali and a Muslim, I have a higher chance of being considered "Malaysian" than a Christian of Malay descent. I've heard the same from other Malaysians and its just the way that their country works. They have strong Islamic rules in the country, though MANY people choose to be liberal. No Arab country or gay old Persia can match their Muslim nationalism nor the amount of dignity that Malays in the West hold; they are never afraid to show their heritage where most Arabs and even Somalis would choose to hide it.

Maybe they were blessed by God, how often do Muslim countries without natural resources hit the jackpot as well as they did? God bless Malaysia.
