Re: Was Prophet Muhammad SAW Perfect?
Among us humans yes the Prophet of Allah (scw) was perfect.
I think actual problem comes because of improper understanding of the word "perfect" We believe that Allah SW is The Perfect. The Arabic word used here is "Subhan" this is why we call him Sunhanahu Wataala. This means He is perfect in all sense. He does not have any weakness, He does not require support from anybody and He is immortal.
When we say Prophet Muhammad SAW is Perfect, it only means that he is a perfect human being and you know humans are bound to have some weaknesses which in turn is part of his being human. Humans are mortal, humans have some beginning where Allah does not have. Humans can make errors even if he is perfect, because that is part of he being a human. If you hit human he/she feels pain.
So, when we say God is perfect it has different meaning and when we say Prophet Mohammed PBUH is perfect, it only means he is perfect Prophet and slave of God. His perfection is with regard to the obediance and relation to Allah SW not in greatness compare to Allah SW. I hope this can make it easy to reconcile between two apparently conflicting views.
Another difficulty here that the word perfect is an english word and has not been used by our early scholars.

Re: Was Prophet Muhammad SAW Perfect?
Yes, ( HE IS the excellent person), cause Allah chose him among his creatures to be the last prophet and to lead the mess up people like you and I. For those have doubts about him, if he's the greatest ones. open a book called quran.

Re: Was Prophet Muhammad SAW Perfect?
LOL at the retards saying Nebi Muhammad SCW was perfect.
It is narrated that the prophet once prayed salat Fajr too late. A far more serious example: he kindly told Wahshi to not enter the sight where his eyes would rest, as Wahshi killed his uncle Hamza. He forgave him though, that's beside the point. This was even after Wahshi repented and became Muslim. These moments illustrate the weaker moments of our beloved prophet, but in my opinion it only makes him more incredible. The latter example also shows how dear his uncle Hamza was to him. The lion who protected his nephew in a world of Jahilliyah. So he wasn't perfect, but better than any other human being.

The reason why Allah swt sent prophets in human form and not as angels is so that people may be able to relate to them. Humans make mistakes, they have feelings.. Having said that Muhmmad (saw) was the best of creation and this is why he is refered to as the Habib of Allah!! He is the dearest and the closest.

Title:
Is The Prophet (pbuh) to be Followed in Religious Matters Only?
Question:
I asked my father a question, and he referred me to this site. I want to congratulate you on this very noble and useful effort.
As I recall, When The Holy Prophet (PBUH) came to Medina, He found that the date farmers use to graft their crop. He advised them against this. At the end of the year, the farmers came to him with the complaint that the yield was bad, and the Prophet answered by saying that he had only expressed his opinion, and that he was human like all of them.
I want to know whether this Hadith is authentic or not. I Intend to use this argument in an upcoming debate " The greatest person of this Millenium" And I am arguing for Our Holy Prophet, so I'll need substantiable references too as to where I can find this Hadith in wirting.
Please as time is short, reply to me by email too.
Thank you,
Answer:
The referred narrative is reported by Ima'm Muslim in his "Sahih" (Kitab al-Fadha'il). Unfortunately, I only have Arabic texts of the narratives and am, therefore not in a position to give the number of the Hadith, as per any translations. I am therefore giving the complete text and translation of the narrative. Muslim reports:
"... Rafi` ibn Khudaij reports that when the Prophet (pbuh) arrived in Medinah, the Medinans used to pollinate the date trees. The Prophet (pbuh) asked them: What is it that you are doing? They said: We have being doing it [since long]. The Prophet (pbuh) said: it would be better if you do it not. So they stopped doing it, which spoiled the dates. They mentioned this to the Prophet (pbuh). He said: I am only a human being. When I give directions in matters of your deen (religion), you should follow them and when I tell you something on my own (that is when I express my opinion), [you should consider them and take your own decisions]. I am but a human being ." (Muslim, Kitaab al-Fadhaail, Narrative No. 4357)
I hope this helps from the excellent site http://www.understanding-islam.org

I think 1mansquad gave the best explanation. Perfection in human terms and in divinity differs, and Allah (SWT) said to him "Wa innaka lacalaa khuluqin catheem"

Re: Was Prophet Muhammad SAW Perfect?
no he wasnt because he was human as we are. its not that suddenly he knows gods law perfect from heart and that he is clean.no even the devil can get him like the satanic version.but thats why god chose ppl above other ppl to lead the ppl to gods kingdom because he was a good men loved by his folks thats why he had different nicknames like al saadiq and others gived by his quraish clan.haile selassie is an good example he you can say his came from the tribe of judah and he was loved by many ppl but you and i saw also the mistakes he made.thats also an other sign for you that god is an living men
Re: Was Prophet Muhammad SAW Perfect?
He was perfect in every sense. yes he was a human beign and a man, but also a chosen one and therefore a blessed man...a prophet!
islam teaches us that the Qur'an and the Sunna of the prophet is what will lead us to pasture.
Ps...the Q was about the Prophet and not Allah, so i dont see why compare Allah to the Prophet> of courrse Allah is above perfection but the Prophet was perfect in every ways that counts!

Re: Was Prophet Muhammad SAW Perfect?
So he wasn't perfect?? Then why was his heart cleaned by angels when he was young? There's a story bout that......
The Prophet said, "Many men reached perfection but none among the women reached perfection except Mary, the daughter of ' Imran, and Asia, Pharoah's wife. And the superiority of 'Aisha to other women is like the superiority of Tharid to other kinds of food."
So if men reached perfection shouldn't the prophet too? I always thought he was perfect.
