I hate seein a Somali woman in Jilbaab and a Somali man in that awful skirt (macwis)........BTW Arabs don't wear Jilbab, they wear abayads. So I don't know where this trend is comin from........But it needs 2 stop!

Number 1- I am not a dude
Number 2- I was talking about the tidaal wave of JALABEEB in Somalia taking over and replacing our beautiful traditional Somali clothes (which according to Islamic teachings ARE NOT..may i stress again ARE NOT immodest)..tanag youuu fffeerrry much

1- I dont give a F U K if your male, female or somewhere in between
2- Somali clothing i.e dirrac IS and may i stress IS immodest because its basically see-thru clothing and you can see the womans bossoms right through it. If you dont call that immodest, then you have bigger issues than I thaught.
3- If women are covering themselves up in accordence to allah SWT's requested, then so be it....Islam b4 culture...u should knwo that by now

Even if it wasnt a law in Saudi or Iran, women would still wear it. Look at Egypt, people tell me 30 years ago women were wearing western clothes and now you cant spot a non-Xijaabi
look at Somalia also....you see the women wearing Xijaab everywhere...head to toe. No laws or anything....
Indeed Xijaab is not a choice is A MUST.Every women outhere have to wear it for sake of Allah Swt.....
Women are beautiful when they wear their hijab ..mashallah..and modest

You are so very rude..naah yaad F** kuleeydahay? uff!!
There are many kinds of dhiracs not all are transparent and even if they were women wear something UNDERNEATH THEM AND OVER THEM i.e FOODAD GARBASAAR so they become MODEST...get that walaal!!
Where did Allah s.w.t say anywhere in the Qur'an or the authentic sayings of Prophet Muhammed (p) that women must be dressed in black from head to toe?? with only their eyes showing?? Islam IS NOT against culture..the culture becomes civilised with ISLAM ..you can't say its one or the other..Islam is our religon and we have our own Somali culture which we must hold on to because its our identity..obviously I'm not spekaing about the things in our culture that is against Islam. There are many aspects of our culture like hospitality to strangers, being kind to our elders etc which Islam encourages..so why do u speak about Somali culture as if its a baad thing?
and Brother Zack..no i never said Somali women should remove the hijaab at all...please read my possts well.
as for Mukhtaar..its okay I'm not going to bother replying to your gutwrenching posts because you're schizophrenic..wallahi i truly believe that..you never post anything of benefit..I kinda feel sorry for you. Please start taking your medications.

Asalamu alaykum wara7matullahi wabaraktuhu, subhan'Allah there's just so much ignorance flying around here!! How is the jilbaab a newly invented attire when the mother of believers (Ummal-mu'mineen) used to wear it and even then they thought that it wasn't enough; they covered their faces when men would come around! The abaya along with the masar makes up the 'hijab', but the jilbaab is much better.

that should be the standard that modesty should be measured against,
the standard that modesty should be measured against is in the Quran. it cannot be changed.
