Thank you, girl. :somaliland: The people she is talking about are low-class Somalis. My family is nothing of that sort.

Divorce is a taboo in my family as well. People here try to paint Somalis in a picture that I am not familiar with at all.

The answer is simple. All those problems are due 2 lack of education n religion and both men n women r at fault.

This Somali guy came on to me once at my friends house, he was a friend of his and I couldnt believe he had the nerve to do that. Somali guys in London seem to think its so normal to have xaraam sex, Im still disturbed by the look in his eye, what a violation. I couldnt automatically see every Somali guy as a brother from that day onward, now they have to earn my respect. I guess it goes both ways, women must be equally as fast if he didnt have any courtesy when hitting on me, guys must be able to get it quick from sisters I guess. Its both peoples faults.

i say its somali men's fault  somali women/girls are miskiin, if they had good fathers, brothers, and sons all this wouldnt have happened. somali men are failures to us. they let us down; big time. somali men for example marrry more than one/two or even three women. knowing well and true that they cant even look after one let alone two or three. nevertheless im not hating my brothers because i know some that go to uni and work and look after their children and families. but if we to compare somali women v men. we all know that somali women are struglling first because of looking after their children, all alone and second for being black-muslim-women. all brings disadvantages to them. and their brothers are not there to help them. they not there to hold their hands and i know this for example say when im going to uni or work in the morning around 10ish, i see somali men n boys standing ooutside shops doing nothing, i walk past them. and when i come back around 4 or 5ish. they still there standing the same spot chewing the same thing-qaad. so from 9-5 somali women are running around taking children to school, cooking, cleaning, and shoping and then going to school to get the children. feed them. clean after them. and helping them to get ready for malcaamad/dugsi and taking them there. bringing them back from dugsi/malcaamad around 7. and then helping them with homework and giving them dinner and then putting them to bed. NOW where are the fathers :? are you telling me all these kids are ba.sta.rds? no they not. but their fathers are careless, dont give a toss.

There is some thruth in this!!
Men have deserted their overall responsabilities .
It took me a long ..long time to recognise my shortcomings , as far as I am concerned . Thank God {in that context} I haven't got married and embarked with me anybody else , for what has essentially been an unpleasant sailing in rough seas.
Believe it or not , I ain't no different then many , many somali guys out there .
Changes comes with your mindset first, so though Kambuli 's stats are questionable , waxbaa ka jira lakiin !!

Nivea, Gifted and Nabeela...True, both of the genders are at fault but the percentage differs. :?:

Abdiwestlin, we are addressing an issue that is a problem to the Somali comunities. 8)

Pinky Bunny, true walaal, lack of proper education and Islamic values attributes to the problem. But we can't blame the problem to like our grandparents..Because we lived in a different environment. :)

Screw, why woa woa?

Suliekha, Cawar, MJ and Sahan

I just made an estimation of the percentage...Just look around? How many men are sitting idly in the coffee places?
Specially for those of you who are men..just check how many are sitting in a Mefrish for Kat..Do you think the same percentage of women are doing the same? No.

A/W,

Maxaa tidhi? Horta ma heli kartaa Kambuli

Gedo Girl and Surrender, I totaly agree with you...

Ciise, can you elaborate why you think so?

Men will argue women are at fault and vica versa. But most likely you will end up with someone with similiar characteristics.

Nobleman,

But what do you think?

Wouldn't it be nice that people of the same characteristics end up on each other? That happens very rarely, it is always the other way round...

Those things u have mentioned r probably true but to some extent Kambuli, even tho I didn't get the zinna part. In the west we're alittle culture shocked, caadoyinkii lagala yimid Somalia will not cut it here. The Man as the head of the family needs to steer the family to the right direction, if the family is off track by an inch its his fault for letting it happen. This includes even steering his wife cause communication is the key. Even is shes an aroos going party animal, when she sees how much effort his putting in she'll do her best and even out do him. No one gains from a sitting at some mafrish chewing grass for hours. No matter how hard dudes try to deny it, the Man needs to assume his responsibility as a Family man. no excuses.
