Why are some threads locked and not deleted?

lol i figured that much...my question is, why do thread's get locked instead of deleted?

Oh ok, I apologize. I think it might depend on the extremity of the thread, some threads might be locked temporarily, which gives moderators enough time to investigate the breaches of the thread & it also serves as a warning to other posters. The useless threads that can't be salvaged- usually those that contain vulgar & foul language, and those threads which serve no purpose probably get deleted. This is all just pure speculation, only a moderator could give you the precise reasons for those actions.
