I think you guys have to be in Eritrea's shoes to understand the politics that's going down underneath this
Eritrea has since its birth declared war against or tried to invade
1/Sudan
2/Ethiopia
3/Djbouti
4/Yemen

What are you really talking about here tommy?
Being human is good , the question is where are you from?

Sahan

you will be in same situation if your somaliland becomes independent. The borders of africa have been drawn by colonies to create more conflicts...........100years have past and still africans are fighting each other because of white rule, if somaliland becomes independent it will go to old colony maps to prove its borders

Red Sea , I have for the most part nothing against Eritrea , but reacted to the statement made by that marine friend of Eris .
What is it that we do not understand ??
One of the reason btw we Somalilanders have such hard time making our case is because of the Eritrean precedent  .

Read the article, Djibouti and Eritrea have never went to war, they've had two different skirmishes and nothing more.

Yemen and Eritrea never went to war, they've had skrimishes.

Sudan and Eritrea never went to war, they went to war with a rebel group funded by Sudan and entered Sudan to finish them off. Although it was widly reported, much of the rebels were made up of Sudanese ethnic groups and soldiers.

For the last 100 years or so, the Horn of Africa has been nothing but wars and saying Eritrea is the war monger, while every one else has been or are currently at war is a joke.

But then again, if you want to talk about "since birth wars", well then, Sudan has been at war with itself, Ethiopia, chad, egypt and uganda.

Ethiopia has been at war with Sudan (twice), Italy(twice), Somalia(three times), Eritrea (Twice) and has had small battles with Kenya over the borders.

Somalia has been at war with itself, Ethiopia (3 times) and almost thought about destroying Kenya, which they could have done so in the 70s.

YEMEN WARS ...Saudi-Yemeni War 1934 .....Yemeni Civil War 1968-1969......North-South Yemen War 1972....North-South Yemen War 1979 and lastly, their currently at war with a rebel group near the Saudi border.

The horn is a hell hole.

Redsea, Somalilnad WAS an independent recognized country after the Italians left but their leaders decided to reunite with Somalia and after the fall of the government in early 90s, they redeclared their independence but the UN and World nations didn't have any of it.

Matter of rhetoric my friend to which I may yield. In a surprise attack Eritrea killed 12 yemenis and took a couple of hundreds prisonners .

My question still stands unanswered though!
What is is that we do not "understand about the politics going down underneath this.."
Red Sea , the world community after the Eritrean precedent { which is waging war on all of its neighbours} is reluctant to reocgnise anybody else. To be really really honest , I don't think we should separate from these southern monkeys either , that 's another debate for another day though
