Moses was a Levite. He had two wives but no children. All of the Cohens are descended from his brother, Aaron (Haroun). They have a genetic marker which has shown that 50% of all Ashkenazi and Sephardic men are direct descendants of Aaron. The Lemba and Falasha also have a smaller percentage of this marker, which exists in almost no other human population. My suspicion is that the Hebrews are the Hyksos, who arrived in Egypt about 1650 BCE. and that the Pharoah in question was a minor figure (possibly the younger brother of Hatshepsut) after the restoration of the traditional polytheistic religion following the death of Ankhnaton.

Hyksos, i haven't heard that name for ages (i grew up in egypt and finished a major part of my schooling over there). Its believed that the Hyksos were people from Asia.

People from Asia, with horse power who warshipped weird Gods and were despised by native Egyptians. Is it possible that they are the forefathers of the Mongols? who knows!!!

I believe the hyksos were a migration of asiatic groups which included the habiru or hebrews.
the habiru were probably another mixed group containing the decendants of jacob(isrealites) and other related semetic speaking nomadic tribes.

Ramses is the popular choice fro the pharoah depicted in the bible/quran but we know so much about ramses the 2nd and that time period and its not possible, its probably tuthmose.
and hatshetput is a few hundred years before these events.


an interesting bit of fact.
the makers of Stargate Sg1 took the names of Hyksos kings and towns for thier charecters. if you watched the show you know Apophis
and Abydos, Apophis was a common name and several hyksos kings had it. Abydos was a planet in the series but it was also a capital city of the hyksos.

Hyksos were the rulers of the Aamu/Asiatics who came from the north Palestine, Lebanon, Syria.

Just learned about them in my Ancient Near East class
