[quote="UponSallafiyya"]Question:

Can a girl pursue studies in the sciences, in fields such as Chemistry, Physics, etc?
Answer:

A women should not specialize in a field that is outside of her realm. She has the opportunity to pursue many fields that are suitable to her, like Islamic Studies or the Arabic Language. Fields such as Chemistry, Engineering, Architecture, Astronomy and Geography do not suit her. A women should choose what benefits her and that which benefits society. Furthermore, men need to establish institutions for women that will prepare them for those fields that they need to study, Gynecology and pre-natal care being important examples.

AssalaamuAlaykum all

InshAllaah i hope to read the whole post...

But yes you are allowed to wear Niqaab to Uni Alhamdulilah...Also i think personally if your going to live in the Uk or thw WEST for that matter then gain the ilm and do not waste the opportunity... of course within the boundaries of Islam. If not then why are you here???...go make Hijrah!. As for women working InshAllah i do not think it is a problem depending on the enviroment but i would say get that degree and persue it in the muslim lands...were free mixing is minimal. (Thats if you want to work). 'My oppininon'

The majority of ulema say there is nothing wrong with it, but of course check you intension.
And Allaah ta'la knows best.

P.s. Sister Sallafiya...I admire your input mashAllah and i understand were your coming from but i do not think giving out fatwas without knowing ones situation is permissable...might cause confusion.

Asalama Alaikum....

These days you can do a lot of open courses from your home mashallah, or if you had to go to uni you have to have a strong Iman and avoid socialising with people or choose a course which has more females in it ukhtii.

As for The fatwa i posted...ukhtii's at the end of the day there is not point getting a degree on something you are not going to use, do something which will help other sisters and the muslim community, for when you guys get married Inshallah your priority will be the home, if you have a mind for business then inshallah start your own business but if you don't then inshallah, teaching etc will be good.

We were not put on this earth to pursue vain things like constuction worker etc that is for the Men.

As for 'Enlightened sista' ...i have given up trying to show her the haq, i suspect her Aqeedah is not like that of Ahlul Sunnah Wal Jamaah and Allah knows best but inshallah do not pay any attention as i fear she might mislead people.

UponSalafiyyah its YOU whos misleading the sisters and brothers here..heres what you said let me remind you WALAAL

1) YOU TOLD THEM DONT GO TO UNIVERSITIES ..STUDY AT HOME
2) SISTERS SHOULD NOT STUDY CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY MATHEMATICS ENGINEERING ETC ETC ETC BECAUSE THESE JOBS ARE MALE JOBS AND DONOT BENEFIT THE SOCIETY
3) SISTERS SHOULD ONLY STUDY GYNAECOLOGY, NURSING ETC
4) THERE ARE NO SCHOLARS OUTSIDE THE MIDDLEEAST..I.E IN 80% OF THE MUSLIM UMMAH THERE ARE NO SCHOLARS!!

UponSallafiyya wrote:Asalama Alaikum....

Are you saying people who STAY at home have a STRONG EMAAN? that there are NO TEMPTATIONS?? How do you know..maybe someone studying an Open degree course through the internet..will go to PORN SITES?? Are you against Muslim parents sending their CHILDREN to SCHOOLS too?? because they are ''MIXED'' Walaal think with your MASKAX
UponSallafiyya wrote:As for The fatwa i posted...ukhtii's at the end of the day there is not point getting a degree on something you are not going to use, do something which will help other sisters and the muslim community, for when you guys get married Inshallah your priority will be the home, if you have a mind for business then inshallah start your own business but if you don't then inshallah, teaching etc will be good.
Wa alaikum As salaam walaal

the Fatwaa is NONSENSE..its LAUGHABLE it has no basis whatsoever in the diin of Allah s.w.t ..where are the evidences?? there is NONE ! How do you know the Sisters wont use their University degrees?? Do you have knowledge of the UNSEEN? there are sisters out there who want to study ALL SORTS OF DISCIPLINES...ARCHAEOLOGY, ARCHITECTURE, ENGINEERING, DENTISTRY, PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT ETC ..that is THEIR PASSION who are YOU TO COME AND SAY SO AND SO SCHOLAR SAID YOU SHOULD BE SITTING AT HOME OR HELPING PREGNANT WOMEN GIVE BIRTH?? Let the sisters choose!! as long as they get the balance right we should not be discouraging any sister from pursuing her dream and ambition. Donot use the religion in a wrong way to ENSLAVE them.

What about KHADIJA she was a BUSINESSWOMEN AND A SUCESSFUL ONE AT THAT..SHE DEALT WITH BOTH MEN AND WOMEN..WHY DO YOU CONVIENIENTLY CHOOSE TO IGNORE THIS??

UponSallafiyya wrote:We were not put on this earth to pursue vain things like constuction worker etc that is for the Men.
U know in Somalia in the BADDIYA Women build THEIR HUTS..They collect the materials and make the huts by THEMSELVES!!thats OUR CULTURE!! and its NOT HARAAM get that right!! How is that job vain?? those women are building SHELTERS for themselves How is building a roof over your head VAIN!! IISHEEG BAL wallahi waan yaabsanahay!! and get educated about your culture since i have a feeling you dont know much about your country!! You dont even like using any somali words..always uktii this akhi that..walaal maxaa kudiiday?? you know you don't get dhambi if you use it somaha? Is there anywhere in the diin where it says you get 'ajar' if you use arabic words? Why do i get this feeling you're trying to be an arab?

As for 'Enlightened sista' ...i have given up trying to show her the haq, i suspect her Aqeedah is not like that of Ahlul Sunnah Wal Jamaah and Allah knows best but inshallah do not pay any attention as i fear she might mislead people.

Actually I gave up talking to you..coz ..qof aqligeeda isticmaasha ma tihid You are extreme..Your scholars are EXTREME..people like you hate their cultures..and glorify every thing arabic!! like you said NO SCHOLARS EXCEPT IN THE MIDDLE EAST...So that means in SOMALIA there are NO SCHOLARS! wallahi you should be ashamed of yourself..this is called SELF HATE.

Bring me ANYWHERE in the QUR'AN the Book of Allah and the AUTHENTIC SAYINGS of Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him that says FEMALES SHOULD ONLY STUDY GYNAECOLOGY AND NOT MEDICINE, MATHEMATICS, ENGINEERING, TOWNPLANNING CONSTRUCTION etc etc ..come on im waiting!! you will not find it!!

Its you who is misleading the people here with your EXTREME INTERPRETATION of the diin..you follow Islam thats mixed with culture!! and then you pass it off as ''authentic Islam''

Why dont you come to the general section horta?? is it because there are LOTS OF INTELLIGENT MUSLIMS out there who will refute your claims ?? so you choose to stay here in the UK section which is a PLAYGROUND of kids..then noone can challenge you? is this the reason?

Our religion is BEAUTIFUL..you make it seem UGLY!!This will not be tolerated and let it be known the Mods and Admins are keeping a close eye on you.

and yet my MAIN QUESTIONS REMAIN UNANSWERED..

DO YOU GO TO SHOPPING CENTRES?? HIGH STREET STORES?? YES/ NO WILL DO NOTHING ELSE PLS!
DO YOU TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORT?? HAVE YOU EVER SAT WITH MEN?? DID YOU GET DIRTY THOUGHTS??YES/NO WILL DO
DO YOU GO TO DOCTORS SURGERIES?? YES /NO

I dont want essays!! just YES OR NO MAFAHANTAY..and if you dont stop what you are doing i will have no choice but to challenge you in the GENERAL SECTION..lets see HOW MANY PEOPLE AGREE WITH YOU..AS IT IS..HARDLY ANY AGREE WITH YOUR VIEWS HERE lol that says a LOT ..people who have your KIND OF EXTREME VIEWS ON ISLAM ARE FEW..MOST MUSLIMS DONT THINK LIKE YOU ALHAMDULLILAH

Men and Women are equal but have different roles.

A woman's first priority is her family and home, but Islam does not forbid her from working or studying in any field she may desire.

The fear is that a woman would become so attached to her work, that she forgets her home.... and it ends up in disaster

To say that all the good scholars are only Arab or Middle Eastern is incorrect. We have an Ummah of 1.5 billion people, we have scholars on every corner of the Earth. Even if madhabs are different, there is not THAT much difference in their fatwas or works...

we are living in a westen world sometimes you can not avoid certain free-mixin like the list enlighted sister has mentioned : bus, doctors, shopping centres, walking down the street and CLASSROOMS!

you cant say just because there isnt universities just for women therefore girls shouldnt go to uni

"We were not put on this earth to pursue vain things"

you need to educate yourself to survive in this world........... is that vain?

Exactly sister. People should not be posting fatwas not knowing what the implications are, or what situations people are in. We all come from a third world country and living in different countries around the West and some even in the East. Should we as sisters not take the opportunity to make something of ourselves insha'Allah by doing something that we love and helping the ummah at the same time?

Sister UponSalafiyya, how does one learning about Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics {Egineering} not help the ummah? Subhan'Allah, sisters would most likely get top-paying jobs with these and help our own Muslimeen in the process.

Sister we come into contact with other males in our daily lives, I'm sure many of us take transportation here but we have an intellect that Allah swt has blessed us with! Just because we go to Uni, in a free-mixing environment, doesn't mean we can't think for ourselves and stay away from it because we fear our Rabb! :)

This is my problem with the Salafi sect..toooooooooooo extreme.

Our Beloved Prophet pbuh said ' donot burden yourselves with the religion and beware of extreme views..it will make you perish...i.e it will cause you to have a SPIRITUAL DEATH
Actually, Khadija (radi Allahu anha) didn't directly interact with males, she was rich and had extreme hayaa so she had someone work under her to do it for her. When she (radi Allahu anha) proposed marriage to him (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) she did not go straight at him (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) and ask him (salAllahu alayhi wasalam), yet again, she had someone do it for her.

Aisha (radi Allahu anha) was extremely intelligent masha'Allah, when the sahabas (radi Allahu anhum) used to come to her for explanations of things and information about hadeeths, she would screen herself completely and hide behind a door.....and on top of that, she used to put her finger in her mouth because the mouth of a woman is the awrah.

As for your last line, sister, when you quote something from the Prophet (salAllaahu alayhi wasalam) you really need to show a reference {or daleel of some sort} so people can learn from it and go back to it insha'Allah.

Lastly, in a saheeh hadeeth, I'm sure you've all heard of it insha'Allah..:D :) it states that whoever stays away from arguing, even if he is the right, then Allah guarantees them a house on the outskirts of Jannah.

So sisters, and brothers, insha'Allah, remember that none of us are scholars, da'ee, muhadiith, etc. so please refrain from such vain talk about matters of the deen. Only speak, or type, about things of benefit insha'Allah as none of this will help you get a spot in Jannah. We are sisters, what's happened to the sisterhood? Let's try to stop this bickering insha'Allah and love eachother for the sake of Allah. Can we do that? :D

When i said there are no scholars in the West I meant it inshallah mention one Ulema currently residing in the West??

When i said There are in the Middle East i didn't mean they are all Arab...look at Shiekh Albani Rahimahullah, He was from Albania and the Greatest Scholar of our time, he was the great reviver of hadith Mashallah and May Allah grant him Jannah.

When i posted the fatwa i was trying to make a point

[quote="Lil_Cutie.."]Suhaib Webb and Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips - MashaAllah . As for the Sheikhs who are great students of knowledge May Allah bless them, such as , Yasir Qadhir,[quote="Lil_Cutie.."]

Sister These are NOT ULEMA, and they have deviated from the Right Path.

Yasir Qadi signed a pledge to unite with the people of Falsehood;

http://salafitalk.net/st/viewmessages.c ... Topic=6237

As for Bilal Phillips there are errors in His usool;

http://salafitalk.net/st/viewmessages.c ... &Topic=562

Sister these people are not even qualified to give fatwa let alone be Ulemas
Be careful who you take your knowledge from Ukhtii.

Sister Dhers fatwa is from a noble scholar, and the rulings derived from this is similar to what the sister was asking....like it or not this is Islam, imagine you get that a degree in something that demands that you have to be there 24/7, how will you put it to use when you settle down... as for the subjects the honorable Ulema mentioned they eventually lead to things like bio medical etc which a woman realistically cannot do until all her kids are grown up.

Yes we are sadly living in a kuffar world ukhtii, but we have means to avoid the haram, and free-mixing is haram, there is no harm upon you to go out and do your shopping as that is a necessity but as for doing things from your own desires (this could be to build a career) then this will clash with your role as a muslim woman.

This is not my opinion but that of the Ulema.

As for grave sin of free-mixing then read this inshallah as it is too long to post;

http://www.salafitalk.net/st/viewmessag ... Topic=6546

As for the admin's keeping an eye on me...what for sister?
Am i inciting the people to go kill other people, verily truth becomes clear from Error.

Ukhtii Dhers Jazakalhu kahyr for you kind advice.
