genetics studies are interesting..

i believe nearly none of the tests targeted somalis from a particular area of clan,
but they used the average results.

somalis as an average across all clans carry something like 70% e3b1 haplotype on the y chromosone
and e3b1 is native to somalis as we have the highest percentage in the world,
meaning we are homogenous and old.. only the borana come close.

the tests also show we share 5% with other africans including nilotes and bantus
and the rest is eurasian..

on the maternal side there is also eurasian and african as well.

this leaves the arab patriachs story enough room to work with.

Maybe some Somalis found the lineage of an Arab patriarch/sheikh or something and just ran with it.

But we are not a mixed race...we're an OLD group of people....

and you shouldnt mix looks and appearance with ancestry.

you have no problem with a blonde blue eyed syrian being an arab een though those features are uncharecteristic, but you have a problem with a sudanese black man bieng an arab.
isnt this just prejudice?

sudanese are are mixutre of different groups, arab tribes, and non arab muslim tribes like the zhagawa in darfur. the majority of sudananse northerners are arabized cushites who are not geneologically arab.
the same with egypt.. egyptians are not arab only a small minority come from arab tribes..

a zanzibari bantu looking fellow can also be an arab becuase he traces his decent from an arab patriach as well....

Everybody get tested and find out where you are from. I know I plan to do so but if my genes are traced Aqeel ibn Abu Talib ibn Abdul Matulib don't let me say I told you so.

if you look at it, every single race on earth is mixed..
if you find a pure one, just go back a thousand years and you will find some mixture..
even people you think are homogenous and pure blooded are a huge mixture e.g Japanese.

There's no agreement on the Quraish haplogroup. The fact that the Hashemite royal family has the G haplogroup, from the caucasus mountain range, actually makes one question their ancestry (the Mamelukes of Egypt who ruled Hijaz for centuries were slave soldiers from the Caucasus).

Dude, those white Syrians, Palestinians, Lebanese are all Greek or Turkish mixed...

Egypt has had the same thing happen....

Sudanese are Arab based on speaking Af Arabi... and thats the perquisite for really being an Arab as the Prophet SAW said...

Its all about status and power...having an Arab lineage with Africans. Is it not a stretch to say that?

Gurey, point is this whole generalization things don't work for anyone since Somalis already claimed different origins. The only Somali clan to have good claim for Hashemite blood is Darood and they are only 1/6 of the clans in Somalia. It is already established Hawiye and Dir are old indigenous progenitors (and account for the "Cushitic" link of Somalis) but the rest need to get tested.

78% of the Somalis are E3b1 - meaning native to the Horn of Africa

http://www.nature.com/ejhg/journal/v13/ ... 1390a.html

the remaining part is 5% Bantu genetically and 17% Middle Eastern genetically.

I question the accuracy of that survey, they sampled only about 200 individuals and didn't list their clans.

That's not the only test done on Somalis, there are several others..You should search for it..

Somalis are one of the purest Africans..

Ethiopians especially Xabashis are actually mixed not Somalis, because a large number of them are offspring's of immigrants from Yemen who left during Queen Saba's era, this theory is also backed by many historical documents and genetic tests

But the Somali - Arab story is totally bullshit
