Snowflakes, I am assuming most of these people came from respectful families, so again the parents are responsible in installing Somali pride on their kids. Even so, and I wouldn't take 16 or 17 years old opinion too serious, since they have a lot of growing to do and their judgment is influenced by the Western media

I am talking about grown ass Somali individuals who grew up in Somalia, and just for the sake of 'fittin' in and appearing civilized, they claim to be Non Somalis. I remember me going to this meeting with an interview and it was a group interview. There was A grown Somali girl in the group, and when they finished the interview, the Supervisor said, oh you are cute, Are you form Somalia and Ethiopia? she jumped and said I am American, but my granny was from Kenya, and the b1tch had the nerve to talk to me after in Somali after the interview. I let her know that she let Somalis down.

It really shouldn't be too much of a surprise though. Whether African, Asian, or polish I noticed a lot of first and second generation immigrants try to deny where they originally came from.

The only ones that seem to be proud of their roots are Mexicans.

dunno a lot kids i encounter are still proud of their heritage be it filipino, nigerian, ethiopian, somali or w/e even if they were born here

but there are always those who become part of the "melting pot" the great multicultural system of AMERICA
