If you asked your casual friend whether the meat is zabiha halal and he/she assured you it's, then you're innocent. If you didn't ask, then ask from now on non-conservative friends if the meat is zabiha halal. If this happened to me, I would not trust that friend anymore.

For those of you who eat the burgers of McDonald's or other fast food chains, know the meat isn't zabiha halal. As a Muslim, you should stop eating such burgers, and ask Allah for forgiveness. Eating such a burger thinking its meat is haram is a sin. Eating such a burger thinking its meat is halal is kufr.
