That day changed the whole history of Somalia forever. An end of an era, the beginning of another era...for the better or worse.
Emphasis on worst.

Done it, mounted heavy anti-air craft weapons on those landcruisers and made sure the dictator would die in a foreign country and not on Somali soil.

He was Somalia's last democratically elected President and he was assassinated by one of his police bodyguards shortly after; one of the many things he did which stands out the must was the cancellation of his visit to Moscow in the wake of the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, which sort of said to the USSR then that business wasn't going to as usual if they don't stand in favor for our Muslims brothers.
AUN Sharmarke

This was a inside job that has been at work even before he took office; some in the Darood circle thought (hence I said Darood) that they were losing power because of him so he had to go and who better to do such a dirty deed then a fellow MJ...I'm 100% certain Afweyne played big part in it, a fact he later used to his advantage guaranteeing himself 21 years of rule (smart fellow he was).

AUN Sharmaarke. A great man accoding to most ppl who knew him personally and as a president/politician.
But if I think of a game changer event in recent somali history..it has to be the civil war..nut just what happened at the time..
but the after effect which unfortunately is still being felt by all somalis throughout the world.
