my friend, just because his name is Joseph doesn't mean he is Christian, and you don't even know if he is Somali or Ethiopian or Oromo or Eritrean!
otherwise he would have spoken Somalia with you!

I spoke to him in Somali, and he responded in English. He understood me perfectly.

So whats the big deal. I know some who live less than 7 miles from my house.

Also christians in Ethiopia/Eritrea are 'eastern' christians. They pronounce the name "Yoseph" and not "Joseph".

What is so surprising with somali christians? Of course there are somali christians out there. I've had somali christian relatives for generations. So even in Somalia/Somaliland there are families who have been christians for generations.

Maybe you are surprised of those who convert from islam to christianity?

we have to realise that just because a guy is somali this does not makes him a muslim, we have to realise in the somali community we have many kufaar, although the vast majority of us are muslims Alhamdulilah. we do have christians, homosexuals, comunists, secularists, those that consider Democracy as above the Shari'iah. and many other people who follow false beliefs. Being somali doesnt save a man from the punishment of Allah, just like being Quriesh didnt save Abu lahab or Abu Jahl.

i know a somali guy who use to live in my neighborhood
with wife and 3 kidds, he use to to teach his children only GABAY
and somali culture, he once asked me about another town nearby
where a lot of somalis were living,, i told him that the town has Masjid
Dugsi ay ciyaalku quraan ka bartaan, and islamic school,, he got angry
and said, those facilities will make us ignorant, and left without saying bye.
