I don't understand how you could pray more then you need to, it's simple as that.

I mean you could pray extra sunna's for other reasons, such as salad istaqara and maybe a few other's, but it's not like you have to pray all day. I'm sure you have other things to do. Have you heard how the prophet (scw) was ordered to tell his people to pray 500 salad's?! Then it was prophet Musa (as) who kept telling him to go back because we were never going to pray that much? Until it was finally narrowed down to 5?? .........Imagine if we had to pray that much?!

Thanks for the answer. I don't know. Praying more sunnas to get your head straight. For some people prayers serve as a therapy.

Qansa if you want to, do it. I think she the girl took it as something you think is obligatory in a sense. If you have problems, need to get your head clear and so on. Pray!

Sunna salats have two categories "Muqayyaddah" and Mudhlaqa"

Muqayyadda is the normal sunna we pray after/beofre faral salats

Mudhlaqa is a sunna you can pray anytime and as long/short as you want. You don't even have to count the rakacaats.

There is nothing wrong in praying in the dark, however, it's not recommended. You never know what is coming to you if you can't see, maybe you are prostrating on a snake, tarantula, scorpion etc etc that is curled up on your sujuud spot!!

I always pray both cisha and subax in the dark with so little light sometimes no light at all..I feel so calm and relaxed.I just love it.

suga_n_spice:- The masjid is quite big. It has three sections, one for the males, one for single females, and one for married females and their children. The masjid is frequented mostly by Asians and Arabs, but a fair number of Somalis come too.

Fight inside the masjid?

Isn't there any security? A couple of days ago this sister came with a child (her son) to the single sisters only section, and she was told to comply to the rules and go and pray in the other section, but she wouldn't leave. So they called security and they had to remove her.

The way I understood it, he's talking about endless praying of sunna's until it's time to pray the faral prayers, he's not talking about just a regular "sunna" prayer.

FF, that's what i figured. Our masjid is 99.9% Somali, every now and then you'll see a few Arabs, but that's it. And our masjid isn't big to the point where we can get divided into sects...so everyone is mixed! and no we don't have any security. We only have a cop at night before and after tarawiix prayer that leads us out of the parking lot.

Its not that dangerous sis alxamdulilah, but it could be. So far we haven't had any problems. During the beginning however, the masjid did encounter with minor problems from surrounding neighbors, but nothing too big
