Hargeisa Airport is one of the oldest Airports in the horn of africa. Only the Nairobi and Addis Abeba airports are older. It was built by the British colonial administration in 1920 as a landing strip and was upgraded by the same administration in 1958 to what it is today. It was designed to support only propeller powered Aircrafts.

Mogadishu Airport was built by the Italians and was later upgraded in 1980s. The Mooryaans like Dr Yalaxaw have reduced the airport to a waste since they dismantled the Airport runway for the only purpose of taking out the Metal parts in the re-inforced cement and gravel. So what you have now is huge parts of the runway potted with holes where moryaans took out the metal.

Berbera Airport was built by the USSR in 1970s and was later, along with Kismayo Airport, upgraded by the USA in the 1980s.

Hargeisa Airport is in a prime location overlooking Hargeisa with the Naaso Hablood twin hills on the view. It has a huge land allocated for it to become an internationally competitive airport in the future.

A proper modern runway of at least 3.5KM long will cost at minimum 20 Million USD.
