My dad always said "notice the Somalis here, the ones from the baadiye are the ones who waste their money on frivolities, and the former reer magaal Somalis are the hard workers who invest their money in meaningful things".

I remembered his saying wallahi, I think it was a summer ago when I was driving and listening to NPR talk about the the building of the Burj Dubai and the interviewer asked "what in the world could they possibly need that for it, once you pass the city grounds the whole country is an empty desert...this is clearly fanfare and not necessity".

No wonder America lords over the i.diotic Arabs, with their feminine shrills and fat stomachs. Ragna future bay ka fakiraan, kuwaane perfume cusub aan is mariyo iyo other feminine schit.

What the hell is the point of this???

If this guy worked hard for their money, they wouldn't be as retarded with it as they are now, but it was practically put on their laps and like little monkeys, or African Americans given their first couple entertainment pay checks, are wasting it on frilly stuff.

Kuwaan waxay tabcadaan yaysan waxba iga siin, waa wada dhilooyin candho qoyan

American Salafi

To be honest I don't really hang around with too many Somali people. I think my neighborhood only has MAX 6 Somali families. But if I go to Gold Suuq, it's filled with Djiboutians.

For example I have never met a reer Khaleej Eelay or Marehan.

Hawiye some, but not many.

Well at least now we know your daddy was a labourer.

No professional Majeerteen would have moved to Dubai in the 60's at a time when corrupt Majeerteen were going around and saying "i am 35 with 35 million" (yaasiin bidde).

Your daddy had no reason to go unless he wasn't getting a piece of the pie and analyzed being a labourer in the middle east was a better option.

Marehan had no reason to leave Somalia before 1991 and ever it make the majorities in Europe and America. Why would they want to be laborers for Arabs like your dad? :)

First of all don't talk about my father like that, second of all the old man has lets say more than 1 million dollars I wont say the exact amount he has but it is MORE than that, you figure out the rest..

I will get a nice inheritance.

And the Emiratis are not waisting their money. With all these projects they're attracting massive foreign investments and their economy is one of the fastest growing for decades now.

Voltage,

Whats the point of your irrational rage here?? this is THEIR money..and despite what ppl say or think about them..
They are using most of their money wisely..now one can argue that some of them are spending it with stupid things
but businesses and investment are what the wealthy Americans/Chinese are doing..why dont you consider that as stupidity??

Most of somalis..(not necc. you)...hate or criticize arabs for pure jealousy..there is not one constructive criticism I have seen so far..
Its mainly based on why dont they help us, or help the palestinians..turning a complete blind eye to how much these arabs are giving their muslim brothers throughout the world.

It was a joke, don't get upset at the dad comment, I was just trying to prick you :P

As for the Arabs, they are definitely wasting their money. You are too young and uneducated to know so. What you see is a construction boom with capital provided by oil, a state-run economy. Majority of what you see as "investment" and "development" is a result of this construction boom, that is the construction boom IS the economy and everything else is a product of it, including the need for migrant laborers and foreign investment.

Once the construction boom ceases, then the Arabs will realize what they have built is a house, with no foundation, unfurnished and bare from the inside.

Booms------->always end in------->Busts.

Cawar, what is the cause of your rage? Are you an Emirati? Maya, mark iska aamus adeer. Cid ku tiri nasoo dhex gal anigu ma arko.

No self respecting Somali ever been a laborer in the UAE.

Most Somalis came here during the 60s and 70s and were all professionals, mostly reer Waqooyi. (These people all have sharci)

The second wave was after the 1990s, and these people are Ganacsadeyaal making honest livings. (The ''Visa'' Somalis)

Dawaa this is not a history class and you are not the teacher, ALL THE SOMALIS who went to middle east in the 70's and 80's were labourers and reer Waqooyi, you are right they were majority, but they were just laborers. There many studies that were done this and they all worked seasonal shifts.

Lol. Voltage just incse you forgot I adressed an issue you raised..not you as a person..

But having no reason to dispute the facts I raised, you decided to personalize this..Ok I get it.but dont fall for the carabtu waa saas iyo saas line of cheap attacks.

I call a spade what its..and the fact of what I said remains.

Anyways.. I am not an Emirati..but both you and me would have minded I think..becoming one.

Their first gift once you become an emirati is 250 K $ ..as a loan..to buy a house and do whatever you want to do with it..
And 90% of the time ppl citizens dont pay that loan back.

Cawar, no one has defended Arabs from unfair attacks more then I have on this forum but what I addressed is the irrationality of their economic decisions and the causes of it. If it is because of the Emiratiy apparent character flaw, then I will highlight that character flaw.

After all I did not say anything about Saudis did I, and they have wealth the Emiratis could never dream of.

For the last 2 decades..including this.. the Emiratis are emerging as the only oil producing Arabs..with the better judgement..
In terms of their investments and plan to attract foreign investments..but that has its flaws..islamically and culturally.. I know... Unfortunately!

Please take an economics class and find out why they have the worst judgment.

Typical Somali, he sees one gleaming building and yells "war ileen barwaaqaa meesha taal".

I dont know if this was adressed to me or not..anyways..the quoted paragraph is just full of falsehoods and misleading statements.

If it was adressing Saudi Arabia circa 70s or 80s..the author would have made sense..what he doesnt realize or omit to mention on purpose is that the UAE is investing in so many different sectors of the economy throughout the world..
From buying big companies that run airports, seaports, to software and internet companies..to many others I can mention..but dont come to mind right now.

Now, that qoute doesnt sound that intelligent after all does it??
