Ahmed-Gurey wrote:Warsan-star, I think the targeted killings of UN aid workers is politically motivated one. It's either done by the hawkish TFG or the Islamists since it's headline grabbing news most of the time.

I do recall Al-shababs warning those who work for the TFG or the UN agencies to be killed if they don't abide by their orders and courts. Aid workers and agents are targeted mainly for their work for a secular organization.

Aboowee,

This can't be entirely true, since the killings of Aid agencies is a more recent phenomenon. I don't think Secularism has anything to do with this.

What are the orders of Al-shabab?

Also what would the TFG gain from this?

----Any information you have would be greatly appreciated----

Salam

Warsan-star,what is more recent phenemenon is the method of their assasinations like few bullets in the head and then the chest, but I agree with you that good Al-shabaabs aren't to do with this recurring problem. The information I have is that, prior to the grass-roots Islamic movement, warlords were in the business of kidnappings peacemakers like doctors, nurses, prominent elders, and aidworkers if they interfere in their turf wars with other warlords, and in collusion with Ethiopia.

I also think the TFG's involvement is that it gains a lot from this because they can easily put the blame on Alshabaabs, and the world would take their words at face value, due to the gaffes and childish threats of some key leaders of Alshabaab like Abu-Mansuur.

Nobleman, you are the retarded one. I hope this will shut your ignorant ass for good. I admit I added the Allhu Akbar part theatrically (Still that's their mentality), but the claim is correct and here is the article to back my claim

On Thursday 8 May 2008, Muqtar Robow was reported in Somali press as saying that Al Shabab will kill American citizens in Somalia, even if they are journalists and aid workers

This threat was issued the day after a driver contracted by the World Food Program was killed by members of a militia after being stopped at a roadblock 30 kilometers north of Galkayo in Mudug region. This is the second driver contracted by the WFP to have been killed during a militia attack in Somalia this year. None of the militia is considered to be linked to Al-Shabab.

The Food Security Analysis Unit for Somalia has recently warned that the dire humanitarian situation in Somalia continues to worsen. The combination of drought and rising food prices, in addition to persistent insecurity and armed conflict, has pushed 2.6 million Somalis to the point where they require essential humanitarian assistance.

There is no excuse for attacks on humanitarian workers in any conflict, regardless of their nationality. Amnesty International calls on all armed groups to end attacks on civilians, including humanitarian workers, and to give assurances that their status as neutral non-combatants will be respected. Armed groups that are preventing humanitarian access during this period would be contributing to, and increasing, the risk of widespread starvation among the Somali people. If threats and attacks continue, the results could be catastrophic.

These threats and attacks by armed groups follow a U.S. airstrike in Dusamareb on 1 May 2008 that reportedly killed at least 11 people, including Aden Hashi Ayro, a leader of Al-Shabab.

American-Suufi, So the people who are doing this want to get back at the TFG?

Somalian_Boqor, But what are the TFG doing to address this? In order for Somalia to have Peace, law and order, everyone must want it. They must feel that their interests lies within wanting Law, and order.

Sahan, Thank you, I was almost sure that similar stuff were occuring in other parts of Somalia, but never had proof to argue my case, so I shut-up.

One question, How could one want Chaos to be fighting Terror? Surely, you want order, so you could find out who is doing the terror? Or are you saying they want Chaos, so they could indiscriminately kill anyone, and everyone? :D

Captain24, We don't who it is, people have hunches who it might be, laakin there's no definite proof that it is who you say it is.

Salam to all

Warsan Star Muslimah,

Sister, Abu mansuur has instructed his students to kill 'as many American citizens as possible(their twisted minds think that the aid workers and the Americans are the same). You can refer to the article I posted above

American suuf, why make fun of the suffering of Somali in the occupied region? What if you never had the opportunity to live in the free world? What if you were at the mercy of those brutal Ethiopian forces in the region. Put yourself at their own shoes. Don't let Hatred overtake your judgement and egalitarian principles.

American-Suufi, So the people who are doing this want to get back at the TFG? :
since the united nations only recognises the tfg, alshabab declared the u.n and the aid agencies to be only supporters of the tfg and an enemy. read al shabab press statements and use ur own logic.

The sole purpose of the TFG according to some of their supporters{ one british Lord cited in the warlord next door} is to keep the less evil amongst the wicked in power.

Warsan-star Muslimah, sometimes I wish that our Capital would have located in the NORTH. If it were, we would have a government functioning right now regardless of the chaos in the Fertile South.

Wa-alaikum Salaam sis,

It's truly saddening. However, it's not just Somalia. I was reading in the newspaper today that a woman was killed in Afghanistan - she was shot dead in front of school children. They thought she was conducting missionary activities, but she was a British aid worker. It seems like most Muslim countries are unstable, and suffering from political corruption.

Nah, Somalia is just always unstable.

Afghanistan ain't got nothing on us, even though they've had civil war but their capital city has paved roads, lights and Tim Hortons for goodness sakes.

God we sock.

Aid workers are killing other aid workers to make their bases appear more dangerous so they can get a raise. But seriously kill them all. all they do is create extremely dependent communities. people leaving their farms and livestock to live in refugee camps is not cool for the country.
