That was my main idea and point of this thread. I am interested to know if family members are fair-game in "serving penalties," I have my own opinions, but I would like to hear what other members think or feel.zulaika wrote:"guilt-by-association"....morality and vengeance? exactly what do you mean? those two can be mutually exclusive at times.Digital-Infidelity wrote:What does it mean to you? I had a very interesting argument with a certain friend about the reach or moral limitations on vengeance and where the line should be drawn with regards to guilty by association. What do you think?
if you're referring to someone being linked to another person's fallacies because of their friendship or association....in the context of morality, i think people aught to be allocated the right to reserve such judgment if they so choose, u are the friends you keep per se,
however, in the sense of serving penalties("vengeance" "repercussions" etc).. imposing punishment in that regard should be designated for the sole perpetrators of whatever crime alleged and not those in association by means of mere friendship..unless otherwise proven in some fold that they're an accessory to the crime.

I believe in showing as much compassion as your enemy shows you.
I have had a falling out with a distant adeer who wronged my fam many years ago when I was a mere young teen. I still remember it and inshallah, I will seek revenge against him and his children when they become teens.
Revenge is bitter sweet.

You're just like my brother, he never forgives/forgets someone who does him wrong.
Your brother is wise.
A favorite saying of mine which is Sicilian: "May you live long enough to bury your enemies" What a lovely blessing
