[quote="Ismahan123"]I felt jealous of the profound love and patriotism that the people of this nation have for their country. Americans last night have proven to the world that they can overcome their difference regardless of race, religion, culture e.t.c. Myself, I felt proud to be part of that, yet couldn't help being envious and wanting the same for my own country. If a country like America with its diversity and division can overcome and give each other a chance, why can't we do that same for our own. Afterall, we are one religion, one mother-tongue and one culture.

Across the country the Somali communities played a major role in electing Obama. They volunteered, donated their hard earned money and demonstrated a great deal of determination to change the direction of this country. If only they put in the same energy and enthusiasm in bring about the same change in their own HOME. Anyways,I hope to live to see the day the same will happen for my country, where we overcome Qabil and ignorance and give each other a chance.

Just a thought.

Why would I be killed for preaching unity? Thats what Somalis need more than anything?

ps You are right, no more blame it on the white man excuses. I'm still voting for you if you run, like I always said.
Because it goes against the interests of all the characters running Somalia.

They want their groups to only benefit and no one else, unity is seen as a weakness. Somalis have always displayed that characterisitic in Somalia.

We only had a nation state for 30 years and the only reason it held together was because of a Commie revolution that materialized into a dictatorship that for a while saved the place from corrupton but ended up failing later on (like most things in Somalia). I mean before colonialism, Somalis were only in their little clan based fiefdoms like they are today, they had their skirmishes over resources like they do today. We are going to be like this till the end of time, there is no way to stop the cycle!

Somalia is too depressing to think about, just be glad we have a fellow African, son of a immigrant from a next door neighbor in the white house.
U never believed me how many times did i told you before the colonial powers came somalis where singing awya ala awya ale in the dessert they had a lil nation for 31 years but when that was over . they went back to singing awya ale awya ale in the desserd
